We rented a car at the Lihue Airport and drove to the end of the road on this north side. The Wildlife Refuge is a small area, and well maintained by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The Lighthouse is a nice piece of history with a spectacular ocean view.

This is a beautiful spot that is now in National Park system. Interesting, historically lighthouse, lots of unusual birds and we even saw some whales.

The wildlife reserve which is located where the light house is, is a great place for the kids to see nenes as well as Albatross that nest nearby.

We had visited many years ago but could not last year due to construction so we were very happy to see the lighthouse again. There are beautiful views from the lighthouse on high and many birds flying around and the Nene parading around the grounds. We saw some whale blows in the distance. There is limited parking so get here... More

It's so cheap ($5) to get such great views, to see the lighthouse, take pictures, and to hear the history as well as seeing the 1000s of birds. For those requiring assistance, there is a cart which will take you from the gate to the lighthouse. We didn't know about this...but my sister did make it up and back using... More

Very well taken care off historic lighthouse, lots of sea birds on site and if the timing is right, lots of whale sightings.

Watch the seabirds and admire how they glide above and below you. This is a short but interesting place to see. It offers historial information along with fabulous information on the birds nesting on the refuge. A lovely gift shop too. I have always been a fan of lighthouses this one does not dissapoint. A small entrance fee is charged... More

We had a great time here taking pictures of all the amazing birds and seeing all the beautiful scenery.. you can't walk in to the reserve and if you try to ..you may get your head bit off by one of the older woman volunteers!! They take their job very serious..I feel they could do their job with a little... More
