Beautiful and serene

We went on a rainy day, but it was still very special. Beautiful gardens and views. This is a spiritual oasis in a busy town. Great gift shop/bookstore too.

The Hindu Monastery graciously allows access to a portion of its grounds M - F from 9 - noon. You can treat this as an opportunity to learn about the religion, or simply as a stroll through a beautiful garden. They have sarongs available at the entrance to cover yourself if you are wearing shorts.

Fire up your GPS. There are no signs pointing the way to Kauai's Hindu Monastery located at the end of a residential street about 4 miles west of Kapa'a. The monastery is open to the public only from 9am to noon. There is a worship service(all are welcomed) from 9am to 10:45 and the grounds are open for viewing from... More

THere are sarongs to wear if you are not dressed properly and will be asked to remove shoes during prayer areas. Beautiful place to embrace another form of religion.

The monastery is a stunningly beautiful place. The gardens, grounds and streams are simply spectacular as is the granite temple that they have been working on since the 1990's. The guided tour is well worthwhile and the guide we had patiently answered all questions and was very informative. It was a place that among other things promoted values such as... More

Special history associated with this temple. Take the tour -book a reservation. The morning service is welcoming and spiritual. Dress modestly although paros are provided.

Recommended. You won't need more than than an hour or even less. It's in active use, so voices are kept down, people in shorts are asked to put on sarongs that they're wearing shorts and in one area to remove their shoes. I was struck by the feeling of calm and grace there.

I would recommend taking time to visit this Monastery. I had a very relaxing morning wandering the exceptionally well manicured gardens. Full of creativity, amazing flowers, plants & sculptures. It is a place you can easily get lost in the calm beauty. Seeing the the new Monastery being built is unreal. The carving, care & time put in is worth... More

A serene temple surrounded by beautiful gardens and the Wailua river gushing through it. The place was very easy to find with Google Maps. Understandably it being a monastery there are rules on when you can visit and what you can and cannot do. There are people to guide you. Their website is also quite informative.
