Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went for the luau. Knew it was going to be smaller than the giant luaus others put on and I would have been fine with that had it felt authentic. More like a high school production held in someone’s living room. It was also rushed and done on the cheap. First off, know that this luau is indoors. With a low ceiling. The single fire dancer couldn’t do more that spin the fire stick because of the ceiling. Small stage with two men and two women dancers plus two musicians. They all did a fine job but it doesn’t compare with the larger productions.

Regarding food and drink, a complementary mai tai is given for those who drink but nothing is offered for those that don’t. I asked the rude server if they had any blended drinks and she seemed offended that I even asked and then told me pina colada’s are for Mexico as she walked away. The food is served buffet style but do not think that means all you can eat. One trip through the line and the servers were skimpy with serving sizes. I’d read that they explained the tradition of roasting the pig and gave everyone a chance to see the pig as they removed it from the ground but nothing like that happened for us. Food was simply brought out and served. Dessert was the kicker for the evening. Small sampler plate with three desserts and some fruit. It all tasted good but we all had to share. They only served one plate of dessert for every two people. That’s right! They cheaped out at every turn. I don’t recommend this luau at all. Give me the spectacle of the larger luaus.

My wife and I went here on our second day in Hanalei. Best Mai Tais my wife tried all trip. The Ahi carpaccio was fresh but too much store bought grated parm. Also, be aware that the hours posted are not always reflective of hours of operations. They were completely closed for the entire next week (Thanksgiving Week 2021) and the following weekend. This length of closure was unusual, but not the randomness of the closure with no notices posted.

Stopped in here after seeing it on Trip Advisor and getting a recommendation from a local for lunch. Really nice staff, clean place, and mindful of COVID protocols and distancing. Drinks were great, Burger was excellent, mushroom taco plate was lacking, but we still loved this place and would go back again. Call for hours, because like many reopening businesses, staffing and hours are still getting back to normal. Gets busy later in the day/night.

Best Mai Tai on the island for sure.
In my opinion best pizza too!
Been coming here for years. Laid back causal and a taste of old Hawaii. Popular with locals and tourists. Always very busy so plan accordingly and come early. They don't take reservations so it's first come first served. Friendly staff with lots Aloha spirit. A visit to the North Shore of Kauai is not complete without a visit to the Nui! Famous for many reasons through the years. Highly recommend!!!

Such a cool place and best Mai Tai’s ever! We were also told The Descendants Movie with George Clooney used this Tahiti Nui bar in the movie. Great food and service. We went there several times as we love the small town of Hanalei!

We had a blast at this Luau!
The Tahiti Nui Luau is the most unique & fun luau that I have ever attended.
Over my lifetime I have to been to many luaus on Kauai & Maui, this one was definitely my favorite.
It is located in the heart of quaint little Hanalei Town on the north shore of Kauai.
It takes place inside a very unique banquet room right next to the Tahiti Nui Bar & Restaurant.
It is perfectly decorated from floor to ceiling in Vintage Hawaiian Style.
The owner & staff were friendly & very attentive to their luau guests; they made us all feel like Ohana the second we arrived.
The performers were multi-talented, interactive & super friendly, they made this luau allot of fun!
The Feast & Mai Tai’s were super tasty, abundant and there is an Emu (pig) ceremony before dinner.
Afterwards we walked next door to the bar for more music and fun.
We can’t wait to return to The Nui!

We wanted to do a luau but didn't want a big crowd. The Tahiti Nui was the perfect choice. They started us with delicious mai tai's and they were quick to offer refills. We were a group of six, so we took up one long section of the table. The food was good, especially the pork and fish. The food was served buffet style on sectioned paper plates. There was plenty of food and a great rice pudding for desert. The show was just what we were looking for. Great music and beautiful dancers. There wasn't a bad seat in the house.

4 of us enjoyed a night of pork and poi and entertainment.
Mai tais were enjoyable and watching the imu master uncover the pig was educational.
Buffet dinner was good.
Suggestion please? If you removed 2 chairs from each row of chairs, the 3 hour experience would be comfortable and less
Like a school cafeteria.

Stopped by last night in anticipation of a few drinks, pupus and some music. We were completely blown away by the musical duo “the Two Aunties “
They played fabulous Hawaiian music in guitar and ukulele for three hours without stopping for a break!!
The pizza and drinks were also Ono!!
No need to go to expensive Hollywood luaus for island fun on Kauai. This was way more intimate and exciting!
Highly recommended when in Hanalei!

Stopped in to get the feel of the bar scene from the Defendants. Great happy hour, in what is obviously a place frequented by the local residents. A great small town bar, with a great feel! Easy to see why they used it in the movie.
