Perfect spot for sunset

We went there looking for a beach to hang out on, and ended up leaving because the waves were really flat. My kids might have enjoyed jumping from the pier, but I found it very confusing that some kids were jumping off right by the sign that said "warning - dangerous - not deep enough for jumping - don't jump."... This is one of my favorite beaches on Kauai. Whenever I'm on the north shore, I make a point to spend the day swimming in the calm, clear water and then enjoy the sunset. The view is perfect with the mountains in the distance and the sun sets just beyond the pier. It's magical!

I'm 6'1'', so I should warn that someone around my height will easily touch bottom when jumping from the pier. I never felt any danger, never dove headfirst (duh), and had a great time. The ladder was hard for the kids to use, so I ended up boosting them onto the concrete steps most of the time. It made for... More

Have a fun time and jump off the pier with the locals. This is a nice family beach area. Go and enjoy. Maybe you'll be able to take a paddleboarding lesson.

Rented a house on the beach. Beautiful spot for walks and swimming for kids. Surf lessons all the time. Close to all shops and restaurants.

I had seen some awesome photos of the pier but on a busy day with tourists and locals in abundance it us not that spectacular - much better beaches around such as Tunnels Beach about 10 minutes away. Nice to see but just not as stunning as those Instagram photos you may have seen

Drive down a road entirely made up of vacation rentals and you will find the picturesque Hanalei Pier. You can bring a lunch out to the covered but at the end where there are picnic tables. You can also jump off the pier into the water and climb up on one of the ladders there for that purpose.

It's the pier where locals come to hang out and have fun. Swimming, diving (supposed not allowed, but ALWAYS happening), fishing, skateboarding, taking pictures, relaxing enjoying the sunsets. I love to take candid pix, and I would just go there and wait for my subjects to show up! Uncrowded. Great place to bring lunch and drinks.

Hanalei Pier is a FUN spot, bring a bathing suit, bring a fishing pole, bring your cooler and sit on the beach, swim and have fun. If you are adventurous type, do what the locals do, go to the end of the pier and jump off!! It really is a blast and you can get some awesome pictures.
