The Garden is dedicated to the collection and display of the world's tropical plants, and to the education of both children and adults about the plight of the world's rainforests. We planned on about an hour visit and stayed for almost two hours. It is a photographers paradise. Well run, well kept with an easy path and map to follow. Do not miss the falls! Also a very nice souvenir store with fare prices and you can get water for the trip into the gardens.

Amazing collection of unusual plants. Interesting story about how the garden came to be! We were provided mosquito repellent when we entered the garden but never needed it. Definitely worth a stop. We would visit again.

Where else will you find a gardens of orchids thriving outdoors. The focus and efforts behind this creation are impressive. From waterfalls to views there is a surprise around every corner. You could spend a day wandering this huge and beautiful attraction. There are so many varieties of plants that you have never encountered. I only wish they would sell... More

When we arrived we only had about an 1 hour before they closed. It was barely enough time for us to see the entire garden. We could have easily spent another hour taking our time and strolling around. We had a couple of Senior citizens in our party and it was a little difficult for them to walk back up... More

They had signs that told the names and origins of the plants and flowers you were looking at. So many beautiful flowers that I have never seen before and will probably will never get to see again. Take your camera. The path eventually ends at the ocean and there are two coves you can take pictures of that are breathtaking.

We enjoyed walking through the garden which felt like a rain forest! The plants were amazing (especially the mango trees) and my 5 year-old enjoyed talking to the parrots. We really enjoyed our visit- the staff was very helpful and the property is well maintained.

At $15 with no senior or military discount, I expected a pretty grand display of greenery and lush tropical plants on the 1 1/2 hour self-guided walk. Other than some nice displays around the fake wishing well and parrot cage, I was pretty disappointed. $5 extra to ferry up/down the steep hike was not worth except for truly handicapped. Many... This was a good visit. Was able to walk through some beautiful scenery plus a bird cage with parrots. Offered military discount. Great for a family of six on a budget.

We visited the gardens on a day trip to the Hilo side and it was so worth the stop! Just watch out for the very steep boardwalk in the beginning... trying to get back up it afterwards was a pain! The gardens were beautiful though, with many interesting plants to see and a GORGEOUS ocean viewing spot. Perfect for getting... More

This is my favorite of all the beautiful gardens in the Hawaiian Islands. The garden is impeccably maintained but still seems like a natural oasis. The flowers and foliage are gorgeous and the views of the sea and coast are spectacular. It rains a lot in this area and that explains why the garden is so lush but it is... More
