Although these are listed in many tour books it is Private property. Do not trespass. Don't go. Caretakers monitor the area and will ask you to leave. Also completely inaccessible due to current lava flow and danger.
Nice short, easy hike and plenty of places to take photos. The smell was not overwhelming, just an awesome force of nature! Go!! Even a little bit of rain shouldn't stop you from this visit! Take your rain ponchos!
