We visited here and did the full circle loop to see both falls. It was quite busy with lots of people the day we visited. Was quite humid with the vegetation, and alot of walking uphill. We got some beautiful pictures along the circle loop and the falls (even though they seem far away) are spectacular. This was not an... More

The way to Akaka falls was wonderful. We stopped at a place to have fresh coconut , pineapple and Sugarcane. Path is well maintaned by the park. We enjoyed the ride on the coast stopping at waippo valley and the nearest town homalu.

A worthwhile stop if you are near Hilo or if you are doing the island tour and interested in seeing a special place. The town has been spruced up and it has a few good places to eat. It still has the feeling of old Hawaii and a couple of unique shops.

This is a quick and nice excursion outside of town. Follow the sign and try to beat any tour buses you see so you can walk along the path peacefully. Park or entrance fee is pretty cheap, like $2. There are bathroom facilities. Then walk the jungle path to see each waterfall. It doesn't take long and is not strenuous.

Beautiful! Easy stroll with sidewalk like trail. Wish it wasn't raining so badly but still worth the trek! Water was flowing fast due to all the rain.

This is a short walk (but with steps so accessibility for some would be an issue) but worth the walk if you can do steps. Very lovely area.

Nice walk with beautiful views. It is a shame there is so much fencing along the way to obstructed views. And Mother Nature put a fallen tree in front of our view of one of the falls. Beautiful views, great picture opportunity

Probably one of the easiest waterfalls to get to only a short paved hike. This waterfall is impressive. It's big and has another waterfall closeby.

This is a lovely loop hike on a paved path with many steps. The vegetation is amazing, so lush, tangled and a variety of flowers. The parking situation on arrival is a bit strange, as the lot is tiny, so we road parked 10 feet outside the gate and walked in. $5 for a car inside the gate or $1... More

This is a very easy to get to yet beautiful waterfall to enjoy along the Hamakua coast of the Big Island. They do charge $5 for parking here which goes to the upkeep of a paved trail that makes it soooo easy to view the falls. Two ways to enjoy it. Take a right at a fork in the trail.... More
