The reviews preceding say it all. The captain and crew make sure you are prepared but they clearly have safety of passengers in mind. The four of us are over-65 in age but the boat trip was fine. We took the 9:30 trip since we were coming from the northwest side of the island. The lava was still spectacular and... More

One VERY unhappy camper! In Dec. we made reservations to tour the volcano via boat. At the time we discussed with the agent that one of the party required a cane and asked whether this would this be a stopper. The representative assured us there was no problem. We spent two hours driving to Hilo today (mid-Feb) for the excursion.... More

We do have guidelines all guests must be able to adhere to, these guests had multiple guideline issues. First-half we ask all passengers to disclose any kind of major injuries or handicaps since this is an extreme boat ride and rough ocean waters which client did not do prior to Tours . Secondly are tour is limited to guess from... More

Lava ocean boat tour was a grt experience. We chose to go in twilight trip to the lava flow region. It was really an unbelievable and we could see the lava flow from the mountains and a file hose (lava tube ). It seemed a bit costly but we did it because of one life time experience. Could give some... More

Four of us took the 5:30 AM tour at the end of January and were treated to one of the most spectacular sights in nature. Coming out of the 50 foot cliff was a "fire hose" of hot lava. The lava tube was perhaps 30-40 feet above the ocean water level, and as the lava entered the sea billowing clouds... More

Our boat ride was an amazing, just like everyone says, once-in-a-lifetime experience. The boat ride wasn't as rough as expected, so don't let that deter you. You get close enough to smell the sulfur and feel the heat coming off the water near the lava falls. It's an all around sensory experience.

Captain Shane was expert in maneuvering his vessel for fantastic views of the lava flow. I recommend sitting in the front if you do not mind the pounding waves, otherwise sit on the left side of the boat. A great experience - better voews of lava than from a helicopter.

Get it while it's hot! Went on the 10 am tour on a calm day. The boat ride was fun and the lava was flowing! The boat gets close enough so that you feel the heat. The boat will be at the lava site for about 30 minutes and the captain will turn the boat so everyone gets a good... More

Sunrise tour - well worth the early rise! Luckily for us the ocean was unusually calm. Don't have words to describe my feelings once we saw the glow of Kileaua and soon the firehose of lava streaming into the ocean. We got very close, the Captain maneuvered the boat so both sides had great views. Beautiful sunrise. Really an experience... More

We went on this tour not really knowing what we would see but we are so thankful that we were able to get this last minute. It books up fast so please don't hesitate to book this tour. The day before the Coast Guard cancelled other tour boats that were not registered with the Coast Guard and were shut down... More

If you want to experience the awesome power of nature then you need to take this boat tour. The craft seats approximately 25 people and they are very frank about the risks of the trip due to the waves rocking the boat. However, once you get to the volcano the view is almost indescribable. The lava comes pouring out of... More
