A large selection of animals and cute little "animal" seating throughout the park. A smallplayground that our four year old granddaughter really enjoyed. There is a petting zoo for kids on Saturdays.

Great for all ages. This is a FREE attraction. Visit the tigers' pen. Enjoy the tropical plantings and especially the palm varieties.

This is one of those hidden jewels in Hilo. Beautiful gardens mixed with a small zoo. Admission is free but they gladly accept donations. Not a big zoo, but enough variety to make it interesting. Plan on at least an hour, with children 2 hours. They have a small playground that they can burn off energy on. Exhibits were clean... More

There is no zoo where we live and so for our kids this was pretty neat. This is a FREE attraction, though please do leave a donation. Keeping in mind that it is free, you can hardly compare it with expensive zoos on the mainland. Nonetheless, it had a good variety of birds, monkeys etc. we particularly liked the two... More

We stopped at this zoo on a whim and could not believe the little gem that we stumbled on. We are coming back in a few months with our grand kids and this will be on the list, for sure. Being from Seattle near the Woodland Park Zoo, I didnt expect to be wooed, but this is just enough different... More

Though the Zoo itself was clean and very pretty, I was disturbed by the way some of the animals were acting. There was a money slamming stuff into the ground and running all over the place. He seemed frustrated. There were many animals that were alone and seemed lonely. One of the ducks was hurt badly and limping, yet we... More

This is not really a zoo, more of a collection of nice animals. It's a beautiful place to take your children to see animals and it's free. Bonus is the fantastic playground and you can bring in your own food.

Great Zoo, very clean and well run. White Bengal Tiger was beautiful. No charge for admission can you believe it? Donations are accepted. Well worth your time!

The Panaewa Rainforest Zoo is free, donations are asked for. Went to see White tiger, how amazing and beautiful. Has sibling tiger in same enclosure. Many exhibits, monkeys, alligators, birds. The Zoo is about 5 miles from downtown Hilo.

We were looking for something to do while we are in the Hilo area and found this great little zoo. We were very impressed with the animals and layout of the zoo. We also liked the entrance fee which was zero dollars!
