Hubby and I went here for a day of beauty. The falls are probably beautiful if you could get near enough to see them. Everything is fenced off for safety reasons, but the walkway only leads to one waterfall and, between the distance and the tree limbs, you really can't see it very well. In addition, the handrails get so... More

We travelled down from Burgess Junction through the canyon mesmerised. There were lots of turn outs and we pulled into the falls area just as it began to rain. We donned our raincoats and got out of the car and heard the roar as we walked towards the trail. There are some overlooks and steps. We took the time to... More

This tourist stop is very limited. What you can see is beautiful; however, the site itself is very small. The are many, many steps to go down and then up. It is NOT handicap accessible. The handrails are extremely hot making it impossible to hold onto them. In addition, there is no picnic area. There is a nice museum of... More

The Shell Falls are a nice stop along US 14. Restrooms are clean and the falls are only a short walk from the parking area.

Anyone traveling up or down Scenic Byway HWY 14 between Burgess Junction and Shell, Wyoming, or Greybull Wy. must stop at Shell Falls. This is a true surprise! There is a visitors center, which is closed (Federal bs) but go in, past the closed gate and see the falls anyway. They are big, and steep and the water is beautiful.... More

Back in the late 90's before Trip Advisor, we came upon this Forest Service offering. Didn't even know it was there! It's a great place to stop & use the bathroom. Of course they have a gift shop & the falls are beautiful! There's a nice leg stretching walk to see them. Great for a 1/2 hour stop if you're... More

I have been there many times. Great place to see the fall and rock formation. it should be noted that are is closed for winter. Going there from either direction steep and should be driven in low gear. During summer gift shop which ahs reasonably priced gift items. Good picture taking place and you can smell the sage brush and... More

This waterfall is not the highest one will ever see, but the drop into the canyon and the 90 degree turns are simply amazing. Driving to it without knowing it is there except for the sign is part of its mystique. Don't miss this Big Horn natural wonder!

Drove here from Gilette Wyoming just to see Big Horn National Forest and Shell Falls. A lovely day even if the weather didn't cooperate. It was actually very beautiful to see the clouds lower than the surrounding landscape. The visitor center staff were friendly and very helpful when asked questions. Not tons of people in the area either despite a... More
