Love Sinks Canyon. The river disappears into a cavern and emerges in a calm pool downstream. You can feed the huge trout that live in the pool. On up the road is some gorgeous mountain scenery. Beautiful area.

Fall colors are at peak but any time is the right time to drive up into The Sinks or take the entire loop if you are in the area. Note the contrast in vegetation between north facing & south facing slopes in the Canyon.

We took a drive up to the top of the mountain at sunset. It is steep and winding, and the rock canyon walls are beautiful.

We stopped here on 9/5/17 after reading about Sinks Canyon. The VC was closed (after Labor Day?) but we could walk to where the river goes underground and where it reappears 1/4 mile away. The cave into which the river disappears was interesting but the...More
