Established in 1974, High Country Flies has been serving the needs of fly fishers in one of the great trout fly fishing Mecca's of the world for over 35 years. Our shop is centrally located in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, on the town square. We are one hour south of Yellowstone National Park, one hour east of the Henry's Fork, one hour north of the Green River and just minutes from the Snake River and Grand Teton National Park. We have rebranded to JD High Country Outfitters, but have the same experienced staff and the outstanding gear to make your adventure memorable.

They carry a nice line of clothing and equipment, but significantly overpriced. If you're in Jackson on vacation and you absolutely need (forgot) something then they'll do in a pinch, but if you're just taking it home check prices on Amazon and you'll find much of their stuff for half the price or less. Importantly, if it's ski gear you... More

We book a half day trout trip at the store, with Chris I believe. Our charter captain was Mike. He was great. My husband has fly fished a handful of time, but never for trout. Mike was great at putting him on fish and giving him tips. He caught a lot of fish, even being their somewhat off season. My... More

As someone who avoids shopping like the plague, I have to admit there was something appealing about JD High Country Outfitters. I was glad I went in. Great selection of outdoor gear and local swag. Head upstairs for even more items and closeout specials. Friendly, low pressure sales people were available to help, but they also simply let you browse... More

My husband and I were lucky to meet Cody working the fly fishing counter the day we went in. I am very new to fly fishing and my husband has been learning as he goes during the last 3-4 years. Coming from Texas, we needed some advice. Cody was easy to talk to and eager to suggest where to go... More

We didn't go on a trip, but still loved this well stocked outdoor shop. As non-American's we were intrigued by the gun counter upstairs. Any outdoor clothing or equipment needs you have - this is the place to come. They sell bear spray too. A must if you will be hiking in Grand Teton / Yellowstone.

We recently took an all day fishing trip that we booked through the store. Our guide, Hunter Heumann, was the best! His fishing knowledge and rowing skills are outstanding and he was incredibly polite and patient. We had a fantastic lunch and caught fish all day. Hunter worked really hard to get us fish and to teach us good casting... More

We booked an all day fishing trip through High Country Outfitters. It was our first fly fishing experience and our guide, Hunter Heumann, could not have been nicer or more patient with us. He worked really hard all day to get us to the spots were the fish were. He was a super nice guy as well and packed an... More

Booked a half-day on the Snake with Steve. Although it was pretty windy, making casting an adventure, Steve got us onto lots of fish. He was able to direct us to where the fish might (and did) lie. We were able to arrange the take-off time to hit the river during optimum fish activity. Certainly recommend fishing with Steve.

We used JD High Country Outfitters as guides for a day of fly fishing on the Snake River. We were fortunate to be assigned Will, and I would recommend him to anyone. If you have the time (and money because it is not cheap!), give them a call and ask for Will.

Novice fly fishers. Guide was very patient and helpful. We all got at least one fish in the boat, and had several bites we missed. Three in our party plus guide--I didn't know until booking that most boats limit to 2 guests. High Country accommodated our party of three. Our guide, Hunter, worked hard to get us in good fishing...
