Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a pleasant surprise! We visited this location at the recommendation of touring guide, Kim, bought two excellent sweatshirts and she made sure that we visited the Buffalo Bill hunting lodge. A gentlemen who looks just like Buffalo Bill shared some of the history of the great man and the lodge. He looks just like Buffalo Bill Cody and is a treasure that you don't want to miss.

Driving from Yellowstone to Cody, our coach stopped at this spot, a combination of Buffalo Bill museum, store and restaurant. We perused the shop, with plenty of tourist souvenirs and a few necessities. We then decided to explore the restaurant, even though we had had lunch just about an hour earlier. Surprisingly they had a modern espresso machine, so we ordered an espresso and a mocha. Both were very good and enjoyable. While waiting for our fix, we looked around the restaurant, which was packed. The menu had mostly American standard food, but with a few unusual additions, such as Rocky Mountain Oysters. Considering this stop was in the middle of nowhere, this was a very good find!

I was sad more of the buildings weren't open here, but the history and outside exhibits gave lots of information. So this is actually the hunting lodge of Buffalo Bill and he hosted celebrities/digitaries here. However because they weren't masking/social distancing, we didn't try the restaurant and left the shop early. Not much in the grocery store aside from basics and the gift shop was petty kitschy.

The service was excellent and the staff super friendly and very professional. BUT having seen the rooms I must confess this is not a place where we would normally stay but we had no choice, it was the only room to be had unless we travelled all the way to Cody. Further our room as in an end unit and the person staying in the front blocked our car so we could not leave early in the morning. So apart from the the staff we were really not impressed at all. It really needs updating and renovating.

We stopped here as our tour bus broke down at the entrance to Yellowstone. Friendly staff, nice gift shop and excellent food in the restaurant. Nice porch with beautiful scenery all around.

Pahaska Tepee was a great adventure for us. Started out with a completely dark night when we arrived. Later we were warned NOT to leave any food outside the cabins due to the area being heavily active with bears !
The cabin did NOT have wifi and doesnt have a microwave oven. So, do plan your food well before arriving. The hotel has a decent restaurant and has many veggie options for people looking for vegetarian food.
The next morning was so pleasant, it was just picture perfect to see the highway and the entrance to the hotel. There is a stream running right next to the hotel and it forms a wonderful arena for bears to hang around.
Due to heavy bear activity, we spoke to one of the hotel staff called Colt and he agreed to come hike with us to get a sight of a mama bear and its cubs that had been hanging around in the area. We got the bear sprays and stuff and headed off from the other side of the stream. After about half a mile of our hike, we saw a bear running across probably intimidated by some human intervention into their playground. The sight lasted about 5-7 seconds and we wished that we could look at it from far off and enjoy the sight.
We hike another 2-3 miles in the same direction (away from the freeway and into the woods) but there was no sight of any wildlife at all. We turned back and headed towards the hotel having given up the quest. Colt suggested that we do one small hike on the other side of the stream near as far as one of the stables. To our surprise there was a couple of bears right behind the stable playing and hiking around in glory and we caught some very good shots of them and were thrilled at the sight.
Overall, a great place to stay near the East entrance of Yellowstone national park.

We stopped here for lunch on the way into Yellowstone. It seems that customers to the restaurant are not permitted WiFi access as this is tricky for residents. We should have seen this as a signal to leave.
We both had to send our lunch items back as they were too far below luke warm. (Chowder and Chilli.) Rather than offering to replace the items our server asked if we had a recommendation for how long we would her to run them through the microwave for?!
Desert cheesecake was hard and bland.
Overall I recommend you eat in Cody and avoid this place.

Buffalo Bill was an entrepreneur and ran a wagon/stagecoach road from the town (Cody) into Yellowstone National Park. One of the overnight stops was Pahaska Teepee (Pahaska was Buffalo Bill's Sioux name). The REAL Pahaska Teepee is a sadly dilapidated building adjacent to the modern version which sports a gas station, gift shop, and restaurant. The restaurant food is OK. But if you are really lucky, you might see several moose which seem to frequent this area.

Stopped in here to get Gas, Food, Potty before actually hitting the park. The gift shop is nice because it has items specific to this location, unlike the vast majority of other shops selling basically the same items.
The restaurant turned out to be nice and I had a tasty burger here in a quiet non-rushed setting. We enjoyed the scenery and ate while doing a bit of people watching. It was also decorated nicely and had a bit of a historic feel to it.
As to Gas, this is literally the last place to get gas before hitting the park so plan accordingly.
The entrance is about 4 minutes down the road from this location, so if you are looking at a place to stay to see Yellowstone I suggest this place very much. We stayed in Cody and lost an hour each day going back and forth through the Forrest to get to the park .
