After playing Mini Golf at Capt'n J's, we decided to check out SS Meteor Maritime Museum. It is housed in the last surviving Whaleback boat, which really makes this museum different and interesting. We did not go on the guided tour, since we had missed...More
Took the tour with our toddler and baby. Quite interesting tour. Only took 30 min. The surrounding attractions were more interesting to our son. Played mini golf and played in small playground. I’m glad we made this stop.
We drove an hour & a half to get there last Friday only to find out they had closed early due to the heat. Ok we understood that but I had called earlier in the morning & closing early was never mentioned??? Pretty disappointed!!!
Don't past this boat by as it is the last boat of its kind on Lake Superior. Knowledgeable tour guides take you through the entire boat. There are some steep stairs, but not a lot, so don't let that deter you. In addition to the...More
The plaque outside the ship says it's a "whaleback" vessel. I thought that meant it had something to do with whaling but it doesn't; it refers to the design. It was a very interesting tour and for just $7 (for us seniors) it is certainly...More
We enjoyed our trip here. The tour was fun as our guide was very knowledgeable about the ship. You go through pretty much the entire ship and interesting to learn how this ship came to be and how the crew lived everyday on this ship. The small museum...More

The ship is very narrow, in some places the floors are uneven, and the stairs to other levels are narrow, ladder- like steps, and seem to go straight up and down. It was suggested to us that we go down backwards, as if we were on a ladder. A couple of people in our tour were claustrophobic, and actually had a hard time finishing, although they really had no alternative. I can't think of any part of this tour that would be handicapped accessible.
