More
Built as the family home of mining and lumber baron Martin Pattison, the four story, 42 room mansion was completed in 1890 at the cost of $150,000; estimated at today's costs to be well over $3 million. The exterior and first floor of the mansion have been completely restored to the original splendor, with gilded murals on the ceilings and frieze, a grand entrance hall and open staircase, marble and tile fireplaces, and original leaded and stained glass windows. The second floor of the mansion includes access to master bedroom suite, furnished much as it was during the Pattisons’ time in the house. The third floor is dedicated to the Children’s Home era from 1920 to 1964, when the mansion served as a home to the less fortunate. It also includes the restoration exhibit, featuring documentation of the extensive work performed during the 1999 restoration of the mansion.

The Fairlawn Mansion and Museum is beautiful as well as historically fascinating. Gorgeously decorated, it's a great place to visit anytime of year (especially when the weather outside is bad and can do something inside that's fun). The tour is something for everybody - old...More

My favorite Victorian museum. Very small but extremely well done. Learn of the rich history of Superior. Maybe run into to someone who lived there during the children's home years. Beautiful area of town with wonderful view of Barkers Island. Many events held here so...More

If you love Victorian homes and are interested in the history of lumber barons or are thinking of restorations of your own, this lovely, but still a work in progress should be on your list to visit.

This was a nice tour, but the house still needs work, and the furniture is not original to the house. The guide was informative, and there were many interesting things to see.

Our last visit was many years ago, and since then, the exterior and main floor has been beautifully restored. The upper floors still need work, but such architectural gems are always a work in progress. Nonetheless, exhibits tell the Fairlawn's story from its Victorian era...More

Went here on the last day of vacation because it was pouring rain and we weren't sure where else to go.... It was actually a very interesting tour of a beautiful home.

We stopped here on a whim, waiting to go to our other attraction. The gift shop was quaint, but a little pricey. The tour started out great, and the tour guide was very knowledgeable and upbeat, however it was in the 90's this particular day...More

Located a couple blocks from the SS Meteor Maritime Museum, this is one of the three museums now operated by a local non-profit foundation. The foundation took over the operation from the City of Superior. The third location is a historic fire station. We toured...More

Sorry, I don't recall. It wasn't very expensive, though.
