This is Wright's largest residential home (over 14K s.f.). Sadly you're only allowed in about 40% of it. Nonetheless, a worthwhile visit for any architectural fan while you're also visiting the SCJohnson bldgs in Racine. This was one of the Johnson's homes.

The Racine Unified Board of Education has held several events at Wingspread, and it is an excellent place for a meeting. The facilities were designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, so they are amazing aesthetically. The catering is very good.

Our strategic planning session was enhanced by the gracious support of the SC Johnson Foundation, which also provided a wonderful facilitator. The tour of Wingspread, which was one of the original homes occupied by the Johnsons, was one of the highlights. The food was one of the most elegant menus I have enjoyed breakfast through dinner in quite some time!... More

Visited Wingspread many times. Nice introduction by staff who then allow you to wander the home that was the residence of the Johnson family from 1939 to 1960. Be sure to make a reservation. Gate to the property will open shortly before the tour.Tours are free ---- how nice is that?

Had the opportunity to visit this amazing structure during a work related retreat. Retreat is definitely the correct word to use when describing this wonderful facility! The architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright is something to behold! The guest rooms are comfortable and the staff makes you feel right at home, providing little comforts like treats at the bedside and snacks... More

Built for SC Johnson after Wright had built his administration building complex, this house is an excellent example of Wright's innovative style. Fitting particularly well into the Wisconsin prairie, Wingspread is a beautiful building. The most interesting thing about this tour is the fact that the people who lived here are not afraid to admit that it was not very... More

The building and the history were fascinating! The tour started with an introduction and video, and then we were free to roam the public parts of the building. I'd grown up in the area and new Wingspread was there, but didn't really know much more about it other than that it was a conference center, so it was really fascinating... More

Wingspread, a private home built by Frank Lloyd Wright for the SC Johnson family evokes a "Wow" upon entering the building! Your eyes go up, following the fireplace to the high ceiling, then down to view the beautiful grounds through the full glass windows. The guide gives anecdotal information about the building and the family who lived there. Before we... More
