We enjoyed the cemetery tour. The tour went to all of the cemeteries in Prairie and lasted about 3 hours. The tour included the cemetery at Fort Crawford. Learned lots. It was very well coordinated.

Our visit was very early in the season. Our tour began in the gift shop with an overview of the Forts History and a description of the buildings contents. We were then free to visit the two buildings on location. The displays in the original...More

The Fort Crawford Museum consists of the old Fort Crawford Hospital and a Prairie Du Chien Museum on the same site. Don't look for a fort, it was demolished ages ago. That being said, it is well worth spending an hour or two looking through...More

Great little museum, the tour starts with a history lesson from the area. The exhibits are self guided. Well worth the visit.

In addition to guarding the frontier, Fort Crawford's hospital was the site of pioneering research on human digestion. There are a number of interesting dioramas relating to early American medical history. The woman at the desk was quite knowledgeable and provided an extensive and interesting...More
