I have visited Villa Louis too many times to count. I never get tired of it. It is one of the first places we take friends when they visit us in SW Wisconsin. The house, the grounds, the gift shop, the special events! I'm looking forward to going again and again this season.

We visited in off season, no lush flowers, but a beautiful place to take a walk in the evening. Would really enjoy a tour when time permitted, the entire area around Villa Louis is very nice. Worth the time to see in Prairie du Chien WI

Knowledgeable tour guides start with a history lesson about the river, the natives, the battles fought here, and wealthy fur trader that built and maintained the Villa Louis mansion. The walk through of the mansion is guided by knowledgeable ladies and gentlemen in period costume. Bring your walking shoes.

Looked on trip advisor and it showed it was open. Made a special trip to the Villa and found out it was closed for the winter. Called the phone number and they dod not say it was closed for the winter.

I toured the Villa Louis with family. I grew up in the area and recently moved back after almost 30 years away. One of the first things on my to-do list was to take a tour of the Villa Louis which is run by the Wisconsin State Historical Association. The mansion has been updated since my last visit with many... More

This mansion is definitely worth seeing. It is amazing to see a home restored this well and containing most of the original furnishings. Our tour was very informative and all of our questions were answered. The only downside is that you are not allowed to take pictures inside.

The entire island was excellent - tons of history and some buildings still existed. I wasn't aware of any of this history, so it added to the true joy.

Nice laid-back tour of this sprawling old mansion. Pleasant grounds and friendly staff. Worth the price of admission

The house, office, grounds and other buildings are an important part of the history of Prairie du Chien. It's all been lovingly maintained with many, many original pieces of furniture, and other items, etc. It's stunningly gorgeous and very interesting to learn about. Our guide Maddie was really terrific, we learned alot and she spent a lot of time answering... More

So glad we visited here. Incredible renovated summer home of Louis Dousman and family, 1890's Victorian style home with 90% original furnishings! Just stunning! the furnishing were incredible. Tour guide was knowledgeable. We've toured several historical homes, but this one was superior, just stunning. We will be back, too much to see in one trip. Enjoyed walking around the grounds...
