BIG CLOCK

This was a place to visit on our scavenger hunt while in town for an FBLA conference and I have to say, it was pretty neat.

While it is hard today to get excited about a big clock, in the heyday of manufacturing in Milwaukee it was easy to see if you would be late for work

The is an icon in Milwaukee, and the largest 4 sided clock in the U.S. I believe it used to be the largest in the world (it is larger than London's Big Ben), but somewhere they built a larger one in the past few years. Still a marvel though, and you can always check the time when you're in the... More

This clock is an established site on Milwaukee's south side. The view of the near south side wouldn't be the same without it.

If you are one of the rare few who get a chance to visit the Clock Tower from the inside, grab the opportunity. The views are spectacular. There are rare public events that offer tours. Otherwise just look up from anywhere on the South Side of Milwaukee to appreciate what some locals refer to as the "Polish Moon". Many locals... More

Allen Bradley did not always have the huge clocks. But when the clock tower was completed and dedicated in 1962 it was quite the spectacle. It still is and each clock face is some 40 feet across and almost twice the size of Big Ben. The tower is some 280 feet above street level. I remember driving in from Waukesha... More

The AB clock tower promises to have the largest 4-side clocks in the US. Yes, the clocks are huge. Nice view.

Spouse works in this historic building, known locally at the Polish Moon. Now known as Rockwell. New employees are given a tour, interesting to know that the billionaire Bradleys, who founded the company as Allen Bradley, had an apartment in the tower. This is a local landmark, not sure if it's open for any public tours but it has dominated... More
