You will always enjoy yourself at the Milwaukee Art Museum. They host magnificent shows of all kinds all year, in addition to their wonderful permanent collection. The gift shop is intriguing and you are guaranteed to find gems here. The Calatrava designed new part of the museum is absolutely breathtaking. Even the underground parking area is something to marvel. What... More

My wife and I were doing a "weekender" in Milwaukee and wandered over to the Milwaukee Art Museum. The museum had a nice variety of interesting collections. I enjoyed the current photography exhibit as well as the exhibit on German Honor Films from the 1920's and 1930's- I forget the actual title! There are also interesting collections of modern art,... A lot of fun and interesting exhibits and a great way to spend a few hours in Milwaukee. Make sure you have your walking shoes on, there is a lot to see. Watching the wings open and close is very cool. Fairly priced admission.

German Expressionist Cinema at its finest, displayed in thought provoking visual displays of actual film clips ( on screen) and drawings and sketches by the set designers. Each film a visual feast of art in which the story is acted out. Expressionist renderings so acute they make the participants on screen and off, uncomfortable. Really a must see "Wow" exhibit.... I'm not huge on art but wanted to experience "culture" in Milwaukee - this was a perfect way to do that. Gorgeous architecture, perfect size museum to spend a couple of hours exploring. They have a fantastic collection for a regional museum. Don't forget to visit the gift shop!

This building is not only beautiful itself, but it is situated right on the lake shore, offering nice vistas from inside the building. The collection is diverse and interesting. There were some big name artists represented, e.g. Andy Warhol and Norman Rockwell, but most of the collection is by less familiar names. Parking is available but somewhat pricey. We were... More

Known for its architecture the collection is quite good, especially its collection of contemporary works. You will be very impressed with the space, but take time to step back, especially as some of the works are quite large. Very impressive view of the lake, too! We enjoyed their small but wonderful restaurant for lunch!!!

First time back here in about six years. Funny how you live within fifteen miles and don't visit that often. I personally enjoyed the furniture pieces. Specifically wanted to watch the wings open as have never seen that. It did not disappoint. Then a leisurely lunch in the cafe. Wonderful day.

My wife and I visited the museum for the architectural presentation of the building and for a special exhibit of Haunted Screens. The exhibit showed the German Cinema in the 1920's. The show was laid out well, organized, and very entertaining as well as educational. We learned a lot about the topic but also about the era. Great job Milwaukee... More
