My sister and I had two hours to kill before she took me to the airport. This museum could have easily taken all day, so we had to pick and choose where we went. My favorite exhibits were the frogs, the butterflies, the mummies and...More

The museum isn’t gigantic, like something in Chicago or New York, but it covers all the basic exhibits you’d see at any metropolitan museum. Where it really shines is how it showcases how Milwaukee was an integral part of the history of building the country,...More

Great place to spend a day. Exhibits are great and the planetarium was a lot of fun. Really like the Old World Milwaukee displays.

I haven’t been here since I was a teenager (about 25 years ago) and there was so much that hasn’t changed (comforting and familiar, yet slightly off that it hasn’t been updated a bit). I always loved the Old Streets of Milwaukee and I still...More

Great place to orient to Wisconsin - not just current but history, pre-historic, and life over the time the area was settled. Something for everyone in the family.

Plan to spend several hours at the Milwaukee Public Museum. They emphasize Wisconsin, but cover much of the world. It is a natural history museum, but with enough about various societies to make it relevant in history. Be advised that the "planetarium" is not a...More

There are benches in the exhibit area where yo can take a break but I don't think you can have food. You will have to come down and have your food at cafe/lunch area.

All the answers make sense to me, really. I could spend a couple hours, or a whole day, depending on other commitments. Plus, because I live in the area I can always go back!
