The grounds of NLDC provide relaxation, education, and adventure! Located on State House Lake, opportunies to canoe, kayak, aquatic life education, and having a nature trail which wraps around the lake provides hours of exercise and wildlife spotting opportunities. My favorite activity is walking the Interpretive Trail which leads to a bog. Highly recommend visiting and spending an entire day... More

Nldc is a tremendous resource for nature lovers. They put on numerous classes and events that are well run and informative for beginners to enthusiasts. I have done a number of them and consider my family lucky to have access to a place like the discovery center. Go and enjoy and donate!

We recently had our daughters wedding at the North Lakelad Discovery Center. Lynn and her staff were so accommodating and easy to work with, we couldn't have asked for more! The grounds were lovely and guests enjoyed basketball, lawn games, and water activities during the afternoon before dinner. A roaring campfire and s'mores were perfect for the night owls in... More

We had our wedding at NLDC last weekend and were incredibly impressed by the staff and facilities that made the weekend go off without a hitch! Lynn and staff were so helpful and wonderful to work with, we couldn't have asked for a better or more beautiful wedding. On such a big day you wouldn't ever expect perfection, but as... More

Years ago we stumbled across the Discovery Center while driving around and checking out the area. Everything is FREE at the Discovery Center and is the perfect place to bring your kids or even go as adults. Free fishing, free beach, free boats, free trails, free sports and more. We head up to Manitowish Waters to visit the Discovery Center... More

Came up here for some hiking and had a great time walking around (but there were lots of mosquitos). Enjoyed the little nature center and this looks to be a great place for winter skiing/snowshoeing.

We hiked the bog trail as well as another longer trail in the same area as the bog trail. Nice trails and nice forest. The boardwalk through the bog was not very long, but the bog was nice. We did not see any carnivorous plants in the bog area. The boardwalk will be repaired soon as it has deteriorated some.... More

The Discovery Center outside of Manitowish Waters is a fantastic place for the entire family. They have great bike and hiking paths (snow shoeing in the winter) and a vast array of programs and activities that appeal to all ages. The staff is well versed in topics relevant to the area. Participated in the local triathlon but visited the Discovery Center too. My children enjoyed it, lots to see and do. We've also been in the past and used the snow shoes, what an awesome trip that was!

I have fond memories of this place from when I was a kid. The support the community, and have a great daycare. If they're putting on an event you should go. Great atmosphere and a fine community institution
