Worth a stop to understand the area.

Lovely visitor center with some interesting exhibits. The gal at the desk was very helpful in steering us to good trails in the reserve.

The visitor center has great information on the creation of the Reserve form the heartache of displacing families for a project that never went forward to a beautiful public recreation area. Definately will return to experience more of the trails.

We came here on Mother's Day to just walk outdoors. The trails we found were really short but being down by the pond and just being outdoors was so nice. Other people were picnicking and the Visitor Center wasn't open.

If you are in the area, be sure to visit the KVR Center to learn about the terrain and how it was saved from from a project to create a huge reservoir here. Walking and canoeing are great!

Loved the trails and the cleanliness of the place. Nice display inside of the history of the Reserve and a very cute gift shop.

The employee behind the desk was very helpful in helping us pick what trail to take in the Kickapoo Valley Reserve. If we asked any questions regarding the reserve they answered them for us. It was

We have the privilege of living close to this amazing place and you always are awed at the natural beauty . Young or old there is something for everyone. The history of how this came to be the KVR is especially interesting to people who like history.

You can ride horse, ride bike, or hike. Trails are hilly or flat. Trails follow ridge tops or the river valley. Trails are wooded or open meadows. Everything is beautiful and well maintained. There's so much variety we never get tired of visiting the Reserve. The scenic roads around the area only enhance the experience.

A relatively new use of public land in the Driftless Area of Central Wisconsin. The land was originally set aside for a proposed man-made lake (in fact, the dam was actually started). The dam project was cancelled and the land is now under public stewardship. Many scenic hiking and horse trails, without major development. A very nice new visitor center.

We walked many of the trails while on our honeymoon. Be sure to watch the video in the visitors center to learn about the history of the dam project and the reserve. It makes the sights so much more meaningful!
