The Chippewa River Trail is a great attraction to the Eau Claire area for bikers of all levels. Most of the CRT is nicely paved. The section from Eau Claire to Durand does have some areas that need work but a road bike can still easily roll it. The cities of Eau Claire and Altoona have many bike trails that... More

Eau Claire is blessed with two state trails (also the Old Abe State Trail), plus an extensive urban trail system. The Chippewa River Trail starts within the city limits and continues south to Durand, a nice little town of 2,000 about 45 minutes (by car). The trail is entirely paved and after one leaves the city, ventures through farm fields... More

I walked parts of the trail in different areas and it is beautiful, especially by Phoenix Park. While it gets much use, the folks seem respectful of following the guidelines. Families, friends, solos, walkers, cyclers, dogs, etc. were on it. There are historical signs here and there in the parks it goes through plus some sort of planet information stations... More

We travelled to Eau Claire for our son's State Baseball Tournament and stayed at the Quality Inn. Unfortunately the hotel did not have an exercise room, so I checked out the bike/walking trails online prior to arriving in Eau Claire. The trail was only a few blocks from our hotel so it was easily accessible. 3 out of 4 days... More

If you can trailer a bike, you could ride this trail for miles. There are various access points, but it's actually more wooded than I thought it would be, so bring bug spray too! There aren't any easily accessible places to rent bikes, or small watercraft, which I found surprising There is one place about five minutes from one access... More

This trail starts out as a nice paved trail. About 10 miles from the trail head in downtown Eau Claire Wisconsin the pavement is broken up like a neglected country road. For a paid trail I expected this to be a nicely paved trail. We had to stop and turn around after 10 miles because it was just to dangerous... More

A very well maintained trail that winds along the Chippewa river. Paved 100%. Generally flat. Great for biking and running.

I run on various segments of the trail several times each week. The trail is well maintained and goes through some very scenic areas of the city.

We went there naturally while walking in the city back from the market place. Even in February, many people were enjoying the Sun. This is good place for jogging, biking or just relax or socialize.
