Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Terrible sad place. You must buy a ticket including Pinocchio park which is not interesting for adults and makes it very expensive. The whole place is shabby and no maintenance has taken place for a very long time. Ropes are across some of the dangerous parts but it is a mess. There are large birds in small cages and it really is awful.

Actually refused to pay the extortionate 13 EURO ENTRY FEE! Unbelievable! Peered through fence and was unimpressed with what we saw. Seriously, don't bother. Drive an hour to visit, based on photos, almost impossible to find, and then the shock of the entry fee meant we wasted a whole day.

This place is the worst rip off I have experienced in all of Italy. We saw the pictures of the "water gardens"' drove an hour out of the way and found the place closed off to see from the street. We went in and asked how much just to see the water gardens, we were told 26 Euros for 2 people. I tried to pay with a credit card, but they wouldn't take one because they knew people would dispute the charges. We paid cash and walked in and were immediately disappointed. No water falls, no water features, ONE fountain with a swan in it. It looked like it had not been cared for in over 100 years. We asked where the water was, and were told they are having a problem with the water. We demanded our money back, and suddenly the lady spoke no English and started telling us "no Bosso" which I assume means , I'm not the boss. She then directed to WRITE for a refund at the address on the pamphlet they give you when you pay, which also shows water flowing everywhere. THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE!!!!! In its hey day it looks like it could have been nice.

This should not be open to paying visitors. It's a take, costing 10 Euros to see shoddy gardens that have been left to rot. There are weeds everywhere, it is overgrown, there is stagnant dirty water, non-working fountains, and a rude ticket collector. The whole town of Collodi is depressing and has seen better days. Don't go.

The garden is nice even if since long no one has invested to restore it. For this the prices are too high. It is something to spend 20-30 min and no more. Unfortunately it is not possible to visit the Villa.

Had wanted to visit this garden for a long time and to be honest it was a little difficult to find in the busy streets of Collodi but it is definitely worth it. Some reviewers lament the fact that it has suffered from a lack of upkeep but as a gardener I recognise the mammoth task of keeping a garden in this climate immaculate and they have certainly concentrated their efforts on key areas. There are plenty of areas to explore - by far our favourite was the bamboo garden - just spectacular.

This is a great tonic, after visiting the Pinocchio park. Breathtaking gardens. The majestic stairway is the centre piece , which includes grottoes. The inviting stairs lead up to a statue of fame and a chain of waterfalls. Pathways tempt you to enter different areas of the garden. Not to be misssed.

If you have young kids then this makes the perfect day out from Lucca. One ticket will get you into the Pinocchio park, the gardens and the butterfly house. We went as a couple and so skipped Pinocchio! However as a fan of architecture, both of buildings and landscape - I loved exploring these gardens and even enjoyed the butterfly house. The views looking up from the bottom and looking down from the top are lovely. Again even something for kids here with the monkey statues pulling all kinds of faces, a few exotic birds, goats and the giant vulture/creature statues. If you went when the fountains were going at full pelt it would be tremendous. Also for once, a cafe on site - very welcome.

The Garzoni family moved to Collodi and wanted to make an impression. They built a huge pallazo and a massive garden to show off their wealth. Now it is our pleasure to explore the beautiful gardens, complete with statues, ponds, stairways, and a butterfly house.

At first glance, this is a spectacular garden. However closer inspection reveals that it is poorly maintained, with weeds everywhere. The water feature which once cascaded down the slope at the back of the garden no longer works, and is dilapidated and full of weeds. There is a large working fountain at the top, but was obscured by the trees around it.
The present state of the garden contrasts sadly with the exhibition of old photographs of it in its prime.
