Old world charm modern resource

For a small town this is an excellent library. Online resources are available and great books on hand. The children's programs are excellent.

This is a town with a lot of history. This lovely old building houses a nice collection to tell the town's story. The docent was so informed about the pieces and spent a lot of time with us.

This Town Historian knows all about Shepherdstown. Very pleasant and open about the how this town came about and how it's operating today. Offers insight to local shops, restaurants and things to see and do. So when the Visitor's Center is closed, head on over to the Museum. This history buff knows his stuff!

A quick tour will acquaint you with local historical detail. A stop off here on your way on to other sites in town will add perspective. A walking tour brochure is available either at the museum or at the visitors center next door.

I have been to house museums all over the world, but this former hotel turned out to be a wonderful little gem. You can enter all the rooms and the furniture and decorations are well preserved from the time, with sparse but helpful explanations. The volunteer docent was friendly and very knowledgeable. As a bonus, there's also a "museum in... More

My wife and I had a wonderful time when we stopped at the museum this past Sunday. Rick, the docent who showed us around the place was knowledgeable and funny. The history of Shepherdstown is very cool!

hours are limited and on weekends the museum closes early. a lot of history in this little town.We drove from Maryland, outside DC, for a short two night getaway to this inn, recommended by several people we know. We stayed in one of the chalet suites, with the balcony facing the Potomac River.

We were on a historical walking tour of the town. The lovely lady at the Visitor's Center suggested we stop by the Museum. After about 30 stops on our tour we decided take a break and go to the Museum. What a delightful place. The docents were full of information and the upstairs exhibits were wonderfully done. Also they have... More

Beautifully trained docents that have first-hand knowledge about everything here. Almost, but not too much information for one day. A few magnificent hand-quilted quilts if that turns you on!
