Overview
More
Largest of all the state parks in West Virginia, Watoga has over 10,000 acres of sprawling woodland filled with a multitude of recreational opportunities. Camping at Watoga is unsurpassed anywhere. The 11-acre lake, which was previously Lake Killibuck, is used for paddle-boating, row-boating and fishing. Cast your line to fetch a trout, bass, bluegill or even catfish! Don’t worry, if you fail to catch dinner at the lake - there is a restaurant on the property which serves tasty meals. There are over 15 miles of road and 40 miles of hiking paths for enjoying the quiet beauty of the park.

Watoga is a large state park with nice camping facilities. We had a river front site. It was cold and rainy while we were there, so many of the trails were very muddy, therefore, we did not get to hike there. The CCC did an...More

Incredibly rustic and a super way to disconnect from the rest of the world! Back to basics! I would highly recommend!

Have stayed here both in the campground and in a cabin (#26) in the fall and the place is majestic. Has lakes for fishing and a pool for swimming in the summer. The staff is great and very helpful and the scencery is spectacular

Just visited Watoga for the first time -- what a hiker's paradise. In the Arboretum, I walked up Dragon's Draft and then down half of the Honeybee trail. I had the forest to myself (except for chipmunks and one little bear). Without the occasional jet...More

This is one of the most beautiful parks in the nation. The hiking trails are well maintained and the campground is clean, private, and well run. A lot of river front camp sites and all sites are wooden. I have been here dozens of times...More

Highly recommend the cabins at Watoga! Rustic, but comfortable. Staff was very accommodating and the park is very well maintained!

So much fun staying in a rustic cabin, hiking, biking, watching bears! Beautiful woods, trails, and lake, too. It was reasonable, comfortable, and perfect for a couple who enjoy the basics of cabin life. We had to wait for a bear to leave the cabin...More

This park is very nice and wooded area. The lake is fine but, the creek throughout the park is completely dried up. We didn't camp here, only a day visit. Nice drive through the park to huntersville.

There are quite few campsites along the river. The park road runs between them so there are sites along the river and there are sites across the road from the river. Are you wanting a pull through or a back-in, this will... More
