We were not sure how much we'd like exploring this area around the bridge. We were just traveling through on the way from Indiana to the North Carolina coast and this sounded like an interested place to stop for the night. Booked the Holly Rock...More

Great visitors center, lots of information. A long hike to view, but there are also good views from the visitors center. There is a winding road underneath the bridge that takes you past some great trails, waterfalls and views of the bridge.

This bridge was completed in 1977. Third highest bridge in the United States. Wooden path to viewing area is well maintained. Many steps/stairs but areas to stop and rest if needed. Ample parking.

The bridge is an incredible feat of engineering. Taking time to admire it up close from the Canyon Rim visitor center and from other angles on the nearby trails is highly recommended. We hiked all around it and even underneath it on the Bridge Trail....More

The New River Gorge Bridge is an impressive structure despite is age. Worth a visit to marvel at the engineering and appreciate the natural beauty surrounding it.

What an awesome experience! Paul was our guide on the bridge walk. He was knowledgeable, informative, fun, and personable. The height of the bridge allows beautiful views of the area. And there was no fear of falling being hooked up with sophisticated equipment. The whole...More

This is a 'must see' if you are in the area. The bridge was quite the engineering feat. Beautiful views. Good visitors center. Everything is clean and well maintained. Helpful staff.

I've always been a nerd for bridges... this is a great bridge. Wonderful scenery, rafting down the river, nearby camping.

Our first time with our 4 year old grandson. It is a family friendly stop with some cool history and beautiful views.

It was this past Saturday; it’s always the 3rd Saturday in October. Mostly it seems to be through clubs, and there is some type of raffle to determine what “spot” you get on the bridge. You go as many times as you can get... More

I believe that it is, but it is best to call the national Park service in the area to be sure. I do know that you can see the gorge from inside the visitor center.
