Quick trip away for the weekend and this was the perfect "something different" we needed. The lunch train trip was wonderful, we had great service. I chose the parlor car which was worth the extra charge. It felt roomier and we had table service. Also,...More

It's a typical train ride. The buffet is adequate, but it's sandwiches and has nothing particularly memorable. The staff was great, and went out of their way to help our elderly mother who had mobility issues. The stop to visit the falls was absolutely worth...More

What a great way to spend a day! If you go splurge on the parlor car it was a lot of fun . Great way to see the area and learn local history.

We enjoyed this trip and the people we met. The lunchtime "sandwich bar" was more than we expected. We enjoyed a stop at some waterfalls that were flowing rapidly after an overnight rain.

Smooth, quiet, sounds like local artist music playing, a small nice crowd but we had our table to ourselves. Two hours up then A little scenic stroll to some waterfalls then Two hours back. The time flew by but they have decks of cards to...More

Very fun trip – two hours out, and two hours back. If you are on a couples date, try to book seats in the parlor car – there is table service, free iced tea, lemonade, etc., and it is much less crowded (each couple gets...More

Fabulous train, beautifully restored. We are so glad to have the opportunity to enjoy these trains again thanks to the hard work of some dedicated individuals.

We took our sister, brother and mother in law on the train last Saturday. Although the weather was cold and rainy for May, the train ride was great. The scenery was beautiful and we enjoyed seeing the rivers and streams, beaver dams, and the high...More

We attended the 5pm Polar Express train ride. The staff was very nice and great with the kids on board. The staff kept the kids entertained because there isn't a lot to see during the train ride. The North Pole is a lighted village at...More

Questions & AnswersAsk a question
I will be taking this ride as a solo traveler. Only one "regular" aisle seat was available. What are the odds of upgrading to the parlor car if there is a no show? If so, which is better: a "drivers side" (right) seat in a regular car, or a "passenger side" seat (left) in the parlor car. Also, do you have to stay in your assigned seats, or are there other cars with observation decks available?

I'll answer as best I can. I tried to upgrade to the Parlor Car on the day of our trip, but it was full. But the "regular" car where our seats were had a few empty seats on both sides, including window seats. Seat... More
