First time to Vashon. We took the Southworth Ferry over, which is a ten minute ride. Because we had our kayaks on the top of our car, we had to load the ferry backwards. That was a crazy experience. You pay for your ticket there...More

Spent a few days on Vashon with our family of four. The ferry ride was easy and a great way to begin our vacation. We did a few hikes and ate downtown, visiting the local bookstore and few of the restaurants. There is a wonderful...More

Since my wife had other plans for the day, I took my bike on a ferry from Seattle’s Fauntleroy terminal to Vashon Island for the day. Nice hill climb right out of the terminal, then headed south on the heavily-forested Westside Hwy (complete with a...More

I was hoping to get out of Seattle and the psych ward for a while so I rode the Vashon ferry over from Fauntleroy terminal for a walk. I've been watching bald eagles raise eaglets online and wanted to see some face-to-face. Didn't take long....More

Relaxing & scenic. Came via the car ferry, which itself had nice views. On the island, check out the lighthouse. Fyi, while there we got lucky and also saw a whale. Tip: come around sunset, for extra scenic opportunities.

A short ferry ride from Seattle, Vashon is full of forests, restaurants, FooFoo shops...Really, the whole place is a nice change of pace a short distance from the city. Great for weekend getaways. Visit the Perry Cider place.

We strolled around the beaches with tons of driftwood around, went to lunch at a nice Mexican place and went to Dragon's head cider ranch. What a fantastic find! And the cider was just incredible. This is my first time with any kind of cider....More

We went to the beach with the radio tower. It’s a perfect mix of rocks and sand with many interesting shells and washed up sea life. We picnicked and watched about 10 cargo ships come in. This beach is windy. So bring a hair tie...More

Vashon Island is a small, mostly rural, island with a well serviced commercial center. Prices are, as you would expect, extremely high even in the supermarket, but it's an island after all. There are several excellent areas to walk including the Maury Island Marine Park...More

We stayed here from 11/9-11/13 and loved it. The winding roads are beautiful. There isn't much traffic on the island and it has several cool shops. Places to eat out were a bit limited but we found a few that were perfect for us. This...More

That is certainly a concern. I would think staying inland for medical reasons would be wise if that's an issue for you. We didn't have any need for emergency medical services so didn't check in to them but definitely... More
