Vashon Island is the largest of several small islands in the Puget Sound, & with a 2010 census, the island’s population was about 11,000 citizens. The island is secluded with no bridges that connect to the mainland. The pleasant sense of isolation & rural charm...More
Vashon is a sweet gem a short ferry ride from Seattle or Tacoma. A true “community” with an eclectic mix of people. Lots of artists with a wonderful “art walk” on the first Friday of the month, a weekend Strawberry Festival in July and Studio...More
Worth a short ferry ride from Seattle. Not too pricey for lunch, great places to view and visit. Check out the bicycle in a tree.

Bi could not be more pleased that you enjoyed my island! I'm just sorry I didn't get a chance to welcome you personally. Perhaps on your next trip we can tip back a few brews and listen to music at the Red Bicycle.
We decided on the spur of the moment ro ho over ro the island. We ate at the Hardware Store restaraunt. We had to sit at the bar because they said they were overvooked on reservations. This about 4 pm. The whole time we were...More

I'm sorry you had a bad experience. You should have eaten at sporty's.
Nevertheless no bad experience is acceptable to me. Please use cupon code Vashon15
On your next Vashon purchase. And again my apologies
Loved our day trip to Vashon Island—just to hang out and walk trails and sight see. We spent the night at a B&B and took bith the Pt Defiance ferry and the north end ferry direct to downtown Seattle! A wonderful 24 hours for us!
Road under construction - but Vashon is well worth the drive, especially on gorgeous sunny summer days. Historical, antiques, tons of fun shops, every sort of venue you'd want for a summer away from the city.

The road less traveled also requires attention every once in a while! I'm glad you where able to enjoy a slice of my paradise and understand our progress.

I agree with Jeff and might add that shops like Kronos are open as is Cafe Luna and the Mexican Restaurant.. It depends upon what you are looking for. If you have specific types of places you are interested in I can let you know what’s there. There are also great farmstands where you can get great fresh vegetables and eggs.
You might get lucky and find one of the few Uber drivers on the island with their app on, but it's not super likely. Check the bulletin board in the ferry office on Vashon. There are sometimes people who advertise their Uber... More
You might get lucky and find one of the few Uber drivers on the island with their app on, but it's not super likely. Check the bulletin board in the ferry office on Vashon. There are sometimes people who advertise their Uber with a phone number; I guess they'll turn the app on if you call.
I wouldn't count on it though.
Vashon isn't a great place to visit without a car.
