Dungeness Kayaking is only providing instruction and guided tours to those who have their own kayaks and gear. If you would like a guided tour to the Lighthouse or the Dungeness Wildlife Refuge, then I can do that; or, if you would like instruction on how to paddle, self-rescue, rock garden, surf or just improve your already obtained skills, then... Kayaking with Don was a lovely, enjoyable experience. He is observant and really knows this area well. Being from Colorado, the ocean is an unusual environment for me. He readily shared his knowledge of wildlife and the changing ecology of the ocean on the Olympic Peninsula. My sister has never steered a kayak, and he gave good and patient instruction... More

A last minute decision to paddle to the Lighthouse instead of hike was an excellent one. Don was able to accommodate our lack of planning and the day was wonderful. We got to see lots of seals on a small island and some even swam out toward the kayaks and followed us on to the lighthouse. Don was an excellent... More

My two not-very-athletic cousins from Houston and I, a Dungeness local, joined Don on a lighthouse tour on a semi-foggy morning in late July. It was a mixed group of people on the tour, including more experienced paddlers. Don did a super job of explaining some basic kayaking techniques and assuaging my cousins' fears. Don arranges his trips according to... More

My wife and I went on the Lighthouse tour in 2011 and loved it. We enjoyed Don's kayaking instruction and his willingness to accommodate our schedule. When I realized I would be in the Seattle area to purchase kayaks, we immediately thought of engaging Don to help us with that process. He was very helpful, and was also able to... More

Very glad we found Don and found him to be knowledgeable, friendly and provided us with a great experience. We are beginners who needed instruction and guidance to kayak to the lighthouse. We got all that AND a fantastic tour. We learned about the area, the wildlife and the lighthouse. I was an unforgettable, wonderful experience and we wholeheartedly recommend... More

I have taken several guided kayak trips with Don, the owner and guide of Dungeness Kayaking, and have loved every one. My first experience was during a family reunion on a hot July day. 8 of us paddled out to the lighthouse and had lunch and everyone thought it was the highlight of their visit to this beautiful area. There... More

Contacted them several months in advance of a family reunion in July. Doug came to the house to drop off forms and kept in touch with me to make sure we had everyone on board as to date and time they would be going out. On the first day, it was so windy that he called at 6:30 AM to... More

We tried scheduling a tour last year, and one of our friends needed to rent a kayak. Was semi-rudely told that they don't rent - unless we want to pay them for a "tour" to show us how to get across a narrow bit of shallow water from a public beach to another public beach... No thanks. Then, for the... More

It was a foggy day for a kayak trip, yet we still enjoyed our trip with Dungeness Kayaking to the Dungeness Lighthouse. The fog lent an other worldly touch to the experience. I can’t think of a better way to get out to the lighthouse. We paddled past a young eagle perched on a log and numerous shore birds. Our... More
