Great place for a hike or a picnic---but lots of insects, so bring some bug repellent. Beautiful scenery and good facilities (restrooms).

For the area of rolling hills and farmland, it's great to have this park with a forested covered hike. Pretty steep hike, but not long, kids of all ages could manage. Good for a hot day, picnic area is nice. My only complaint is they...More

Yes, we all love those rolling green Palouse hills that stretch on for miles, but what happened to the trees? If you need a tree fix and a nice view of this fascinating area, I would recommend this lovely small county park. There's a 3.5...More

Kamiak Butte is the go-to park to test your running or hiking mettle in Whitman County. The view from the top is lovely all times of the year. I love the run up, taking the left hand trail. Stop and view the Palouse, and run...More

This is the only place with any kind of shade in the area so there were families doing picnics and many folks walking their dogs on the main trail. You can take the west end trail for a short but challenging hike with slippery, muddy...More

This park has it all. There is a large playground for the children, variety of hiking trails, a stage for impromptu performances, picnic tables, camping areas, and fun for all. My family loves to visit Kamiak Butte because there is something for everyone. This is...More

Several different walks and areas to enjoy based on your group. Take the hike to the top or enjoy the picnic area. I believe there is also overnight camping; possibly tenting only.

We frequently go to Kamiak Butte Park for picnics and occasionally take the hike to the top or just part way up. The lower park is an excellent site for family picnics with tables, restrooms, water and a playground for children. There is a lot...More

I've been climbing Kamiak for a few years now and love the clean open trails, the beautiful views from so many points at the top. A great place to trail run as well. Love it.

Beautiful forest, nice slightly rugged path going up and down the butte with a terrific view of farmland at top. My favorite time to catch the view is near sunset (not too close to sunset, cuz that is around the time the park shuts down)....More

You can hike just part way up and view some of the countryside, which is getting greener by the day. When you come back down, your child might enjoy the playground area under the big trees.

I'd rather hike Kamiak Butte any day over Steptoe Butte because of its beautiful forest, although I don't remember much hiking on Steptoe -- you just drive around and around until reaching the top. Both have great views... More

No, but the trails are pretty well kept and it is not a steep climb.
