The experience was incredibly pleasing...having slept in a cottage just overlooking the marine science museum, I was not yet thinking about the neat exhibits inside, but more focused on the view of the harbor from Fort Warden's setting. Once down on the dock, I was totally taken to the world of the sea...long kelp swaying from the pilings and the... More

I saved this center last for my reviews of Port Townsend. I arrived on the dock early before opening and the mist lifting from the water in the distance on a sunny morning was amazing. The view in every direction was lovely from the pier. I loved the hands on interactive displays both inside and outside. It was a great... More

Literally on a pier on the water, surprisingly large touch tanks inside (our granddaughter loved them!), plus lots of other hands-on exhibits. And don't forget the second building on the shore - fascinating contemporary exhibits of local marine issues and findings!

I had time to visit only one of the two facilities; it was the aquarium with the touch tanks. Don't expect a big fancy aquarium with tons of exotic fish. Rather, this is a friendly, informal little gem that's really family-friendly. The staff was welcoming and knowledgeable. It was so cool to touch a sea anenome and other weird critters.... More

This center is located right on the water in Fort Worden. They have a very extensive display of marine life and a great way to spend some time and learn about local marine habitat.

Interesting place to walk around - you can go into the boatshop and see them building boats and masts. The highlight is the ship pilot simulator on the top floor - you can pilot a ship in all kinds of weather and it feels very real. The views of Port Townsend harbor from up there are stunning too!

This little aquarium has the best touch-tanks my family has encountered, and a very friendly staff to fill in the details. My young daughters went back for a second day, totaling several hours.

It highlights the marine life here in our area and allows children the privilege of touching many of the exhibits.

Quite inspirational. Did you know that sea cucumbers eject their guts when that are scared ( they later grow new ones ! ) looks yukky but a clever protection method. Grandchildren and us were fascinated by the stories and experiences. Big thank you to Michael ,one of the volunteers who showed us fried egg jelly fish in the dock under... More
