This is a wonderful park where you can walk along the banks of the Columbia river. Climb the cinder cone, Beacon Rock, or wander the heights and look down upon the gorge over a thousand feet below.

I won't repeat all the comments but this is a really fun ELEVATION hike. Just be aware that if kids or dogs explore the sides of the trail you could come in contact with poison oak. If you simply walk the trail you won't touch...More

Climb to the top of an 848 foot volcano lava plug. Excellent trail with switchbacks galore and plenty of spots to view the Columbia Gorge. The blue Steller's Jay and spotted squirrels welcomed us to catch our breath at the summit.

Wonderful hike for those who don't mind the uphill hike. It's short and worth the views of the Columbia Gorge from the Washington side. I also saw it from the Oregon side which gave me a comparison view of the rock and of the gorge....More
