Lopez island is one of the flattest islands in the San Juan Islands and everywhere you ride is scenic. It's also one of the least developed islands so there is very little car traffic and everywhere you look you see either beautiful water vistas or bucolic farms and fields. In the village there are some good cafes and a good... More

Lopez Island is a great place to ride bikes even if you're only a casual rider. The traffic on this island moves slow (35 mph on most roads), the people are friendly and the hills are not as intimidating as those on Orcas Island. We brought our own bikes but rented a bike trailer for our dog and bikes for... More

For the past dozen-plus years, the Lopez Island community has come together to offer a special set of rides for recreational bicyclists. Five of us joined in the fun on this year's 30+ mile ride. We had rented overnight accommodations and were already on the Island, but many bicyclists rode the morning ferry from Anacortes and bicycled up a short... More

We rented battery assist bikes to tour the island. Glad we did as the island is not flat. The gentleman that rented us our bikes was very helpful mapping several ways that we could ride to take in the most wonderful sites on the island. We ended up riding 23 miles that day. He also ended up charging the day... More

Rented hybrid bikes from Village Cycles (very helpful, both over the phone and on site), they had them waiting for us at the ferry, complete with pannier and bungie for our picnic and travel gear. One problem -- I should've asked Village Cycles and not the travel mags, for a suggested route. We rode the western side of the island,... More

My husband and I along with our three daughters (11, 9, and 6) spent a half day with Mia from Village Cycles touring Lopez Island. It was certainly one of the highlights of our two week vacation in the Pacific Northwest. The owner, Heidi, picked us up from the ferry and drove us to the market to purchase our sandwiches... More

I hopped off the ferry and was immediately impressed by the lack of traffic. I rode to Spencer Spit where bikes get in free! Had to walk some of the trails there, though. I took my mountain bike so that I could ride the cool trails on Lopez Hill. Then it was off to Lopez Village for an early dinner.... More

There are plenty of hills starting as you leave Fisherman's Bay. Ride to Shark Reef anyway because the tidal rip is worth it. If you're not in shape you'll make it anyway. Agate Beach is tough but worth it and the Restored Schoolhouse is great for the quilter show. Beyond it is the Horse Drawn Farm where all devices are... More
