Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

For the size, the park service packed this museum with good information about Mount Rainier and the surrounding area. There were some dated displays with pictures from the 50's but the diaramas were well laid out with examples of the local fauna and flora. There was a very good display of how the mountain worked and the Ranger was helpful with explaining about the geology. Though small it is well worth the stop to see. You can also get your Passport stamp.

If you have an hour to spare then why not spend it in this quaint wooden museum that was once the home of James Longmire. Glass cabinet displays of nature, maps and mountain achievements. The ranger Mark Blackmore (hope thats right) was most helpful and made us feel most welcome. We got an invite to a rangers life as well as useful information about what is required to climb Mount Rainier and all the dangers it poses. If you want quaint, basic but endearing then this museum ticks that box.

Small with many stuffed animals. If this is what you want in a museum this is maybe worth a few minutes of your time in the park. Otherwise skip it.

The museum was interesting, but took only about 10-15 minutes to view. It's worth a quick look to see some decent specimens of native animals, plants, and birds, and to learn about the geography and cultural history of the area.

One of the first side steps you can see from the main road. We stopped here on the way out instead of on the way in! Mistake. Stop first, get info and see what kinds of nature you could encounter while visiting the park. Nice displays. Informative staff. Purchased an NP passport to be stamped at each visitors center from here on out!

Small in size, large in quality, this museum has a range of displays, lots of useful information together with helpful Rangers explanations. Worth a stop and visit if you are passing.

From the West, the first place you come to in Mt. Rainier National Park is Longmire. It is a series of buildings - both tourist and Park (maintenance, living quarters, etc.).
We messed up in identifying the Museum and walked up the hill to a pretty neat suspension bridge. The bridge really had nothing to do with either the Park or the Museum. But was well worth the walk and the view from the Bridge. I'd take it again.
Walking down from the Bridge, we passed the Wilderness Information Center. Thinking they could guide us to the Museum, we went there. It's actually a mini-Visitor Center with a 3D map (love 'em), some displays and a Ranger desk. We chatted with the Ranger about ideas for our day in Mt. Rainier. She was most helpful. Also glad we went in even when we thought it wouldn't be interesting.
And the Museum. Well, it was right behind us! We asked the Wilderness Ranger and she pointed to it. Hmmm, the old adage, 'if it was a snake it would have bitten us' applies. So we walked down to it. Very pleasant little Museum housed in one of the oldest buildings in the Park. The Museum is actually crammed with displays. There is also a Ranger desk. We chatted with the Ranger for additional ideas and information on the Park. Most helpful.
So, my message? The Museum is well worth the stop. But also go to the Bridge and the Wilderness Information Center while you stop.

There are some cool indian artifacts in the place, which is why we went, and there are some stuffed animals, but other than that , things are mislabeled, some signs are telling you to look at pictures or artifacts that are no where to be found. It's cool , but it's not cool. It's about the size of a small living room.

Nice little museum. Classic log cabin, which is exactly what I would expect in a national park. Displays were basic info on volcanos and wildlife in the area.
