Sort of must see. Nothing quite like it. The path from the parking lot meanders a bit, and is muddy in patches, before it reaches USCG tarmac leading to the lighthouse. Good .6 mile walk each way. I ran into a couple loose dogs on 'their' trail which was bit of a stir (please leash your dogs). The lighthouse itself... More

At my age it is a good walk to the lighthouse but well worth it. Very scenic views of the mouth of the Columbia River.

A fairly easy walk walk up to the lighthouse, was a bit muddy in parts however, once we reached the top all was forgotten. Beautiful

We did not realize ahead of time how long and difficult the hike to the lighthouse would be. We gave up about halfway there with the inclines and uneven path in the rain and just went to the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center to view it from afar instead.

If you find yourself traveling between the Seattle-Tacoma area and Astoria / Seaside corridor, you're going to want a side trip to Cape Disappointment. Visiting family along the WA / OR coastline for the past 15 years, my wife and I are always surprised with new finds. Our most recent visit led us to Cape Disappointment while returning to Port... This view unplanned, but apparently timed just right with the sunset, was extraordinary. I want to go back with more time in the summers as there were lost of hiking trails with lookouts. The tall tree-lined paths with a ocean-view at the end also looked appealing. Such a great way to start out my New Year.

My dad and I, with my two kids ages 12-1/2 and 15, visited today. fodors.com said the Lewis and Clark interpretive center is open daily, so we drove two hours to find a sign saying, "closed Monday and Tuesday". Bummer!! However, we still spent almost two hours looking at the battlement right there, walking the path between the center and... More

My wife and I walked up to the lighthouse on a crisp Saturday afternoon. There was some mud that had to be avoided, but otherwise the hike was moderate and very pleasant. The view of the cove from the lighthouse area was spectacular. We also got to see the beginning of a sunset. So nice

We have been here a few times, and each time it seems to get better. The views are awesome, and it is a pretty easy walk around there. Perfect for people like me with a bad back!
