- Lauryn L19 contributionsMagical Masungi GeoReserveAs it wet season in the north it was foggy and we had little rain on trail. That just made the entire experience more magical. The terrain was amazing, with tropical vines, forest and very cool rock formations made from ancient coral. Our guide Jason was knowledgeable about the plants and animals and stopped to show us specific trees and how they support the animals and insects in the georeserve. There are rope bridges over the canopy, rope climbs up and over large rock formations and a cave walk just to name a few items on this hike. The Discovery trail lives up to it's name. Everyone should visit and support the amazing work being done there!Dear 283laurynl, Thank you first of all for visiting our beloved georeserve and for sharing these kind words. We are truly grateful! We also hope that like you, every guest who visits our humble sanctuary will become a stronger advocate of nature. Occasional showers are common inside since we are a rainforest, but despite this we are glad that you are one of the many guests who have continued to enjoy the Discovery Trail experience. Our team is equipped with the right pieces of training and backed with information relevant to the Masungi landscape and the surrounding environment. We always aim to deliver the best experience our guests could have on their visits with us. We hope you had some meaningful takeaways during your visit. - Ronald R4 contributionsNature Lover's Top Tier ExperienceHad the privilege of visiting Masungi Georeserve for the 9th time (6 times at the Legacy Trail, thrice at side trails and once at Discovery Trail) and every visit is a memorable learning and life-changing experience. All dedicated forest rangers are well versed in the changing landscape and diversity of flora and fauna. The experience differs depending on the weather. I prefer windy, cloudy weather when going up there. The Sierra Madre is more dramatic with rain clouds. Beyond the transformations, the team behind Masungi Georeserve is focused on restoring the lost and abused part of the Upper Marikina Watershed Area. Masungi Georeserve is a platform to make anyone fall in love with nature in a much deeper level. The Masungi Georeserve experience should be in every nature lover's bucket list.Dear E1623GUronaldr, Thank you for your continuous support for our beloved georeserve! Your valuable feedback is truly appreciated. We are genuinely glad to know that you already visited our humble sanctuary nine times! Your continuous visits motivate us to do even better on the way forward. Thank you for appreciating the ongoing comprehensive forest restoration of our park rangers and the whole Masungi Georeserve team. Geotourism has become a force for good in the restoration of over 2,700 hectares of critically deteriorated watershed which resulted to multiple successes against environment syndicates. More than this, we hope you enjoyed your time with us and had some meaningful takeaways. - SgDiplomomSingapore, Singapore30 contributionsGreat hike and education on biodiversity and sustainable tourism!Perfect day at Masungi Georeserve. The hike was well-organised and well-paced with sufficient rest stops. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly, allowing us to take our time and helping to take our photos. You do need a certain level of fitness and daring to tackle the ropes, steps and hanging bridges but you will be rewarded with stunning views of the limestone karst formations. There are alternative paths to take for those who have a fear of heights but these detours may take longer. Best not to rush and go with people who won’t judge you if you feel like dropping out! Well done to the Foundation and for educating the public on biodiversity and sustainable tourism. Book ahead and pray for great weather.Dear SgDiplomom, Thank you first of all for visiting our beloved georeserve and for sharing these kind words. We are truly grateful! In addition, our team is equipped with the right pieces of training and backed with information relevant to the Masungi landscape and the surrounding environment. - Julienne RHong Kong, China19 contributionsNaturally beautiful and admirable, uniquely Filipino experienceThe visit was not only a delightful experience but also an educational one, offering insights into local ecology and conservation efforts. We were blessed with perfect weather – sunny yet pleasantly cool and breezy, a characteristic that apparently intensifies from February to April. Lunch was a culinary highlight, with delicious meals served in traditional Filipino style, wrapped in banana leaves. Choices included fish, chicken, or tofu, catering to all tastes. Tree planting and nurturing was such a fun and rustic activity—everyone enjoyed getting their hands dirty. The facilities were impressive too, notably the beautifully designed and impeccably clean outdoor restrooms. It was such a relaxing place, with its majestic view and good food. People are very welcoming and yeah, I really enjoyed the whole discovery trail. - CarohlynerCumberland, Canada11 contributionsAdrenaline filled adventure in nature! An absolutely incredible experience and well worth the price. A reasonable distance for a day trip away from the city. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and it’s evident that they care for the environment. I participated in the discovery trail, which I believe to be the most challenging. It took about 3 hours and my heart was racing the entire time. Great exercise, great views, and a once in a lifetime experience if you’re traveling through the area. Our Ranger, Sarah, was patient and explained the trail options which helped me to prepare myself for the challenging course ahead. A must-visit for adrenaline seekers, but know that there are family friendly options, too. Everything from the restroom facilities to the post-trail snack were notable, tidy, and impressive. 10/10 would recommend!! Beautiful nature and interesting history. Please consider a small donation at the end of the trail if you enjoy your experience.Dear carohlyner, Thank you for visiting our beloved georeserve and giving us your valuable feedback! - kys730Manila, Philippines19 contributionsHaven for adventurous nature loversNine of us spent four hours exploring the Discovery Trail of this karst reserve less than two hours’ drive from Metro Manila. The trail is designed to challenge reasonably fit groups who don’t mind some exposure to the elements and surmounting physical obstacles without incurring serious risks. A certified guide accompanied us all the way. Aside from the uneven terrain, there were hanging bridges, caves, meshed rope walls, and a giant spider web suspended over a jagged ravine to get the adrenaline pumping. Entry is regulated to groups (minimum of seven, maximum of fourteen) with prior online bookings. Price ₱1,500.00 weekdays and ₱1,800 weekends. The surrounding region (Tanay/Baras) is elevated with scenic vistas of clouds and forested hills. Its zigzag highway has become the favorite of weekend bikers so dining and accommodations abound.Visited June 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 12 June 2024

It’s very disappointing, we wanted to visit from Manila but you have to be a private group of 7 people and if you are only 2 than you have to pay for 7 people…
No chance to book just 2 places and others can book at the same day!
They told us we should invite our family and close friends so we’d be 7 people… yeah thanks, great advice to get our family from Austria here … 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
Why not open it up so more people can book at the same day? I bet the spaces would fill up!
It’s very sad that people can’t visit this incredible place anymore…

Dear MarilliM,
Thank you first of all for your intent to visit the georeserve and for sharing your feedback. We greatly appreciate it.
As much as we would love to accommodate your request, the minimum guest count per private group is integral to our capacity limitations, operations, and management of visits.
With this, I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and we are hoping for your kind understanding regarding this matter.
Rest assured, we will relay your feedback to the team for consideration as we are always looking for ways to make the trail visits more inclusive.
Thank you again and we look forward to welcoming you to the trails soon!

This georeserve has two trails available, the Instagram famous discovery trail, and the legacy trail which gives you a greater insight on the ongoing conservation process in the reserve. Our group took the legacy trail. We started our hike at 8 am and finished at around 2 pm. The most difficult part for me is the 400 ascending steps.
Pros:
1. Awesome tour guide! Our guide/ranger Mary Rose gave as great lectures on how they are planning to go about the restoration of the area. She was also very accommodating and did not rush our group during our hike.
2. We were provided with ponchos, knitted cotton gloves, and walking sticks.
3. Very nice trail with regular rest stops and toilets. See pictures since I can't describe it enough to do it justice.
4. A sufficient lunch is provided for the legacy trail
5. Affordable at around 1,600 php per head

Highly enjoyable experience! The discovery trail is about 4 hours and it was raining the whole time, but it actually made the tour more special. A few places I got worried about safety, and for people with vertigo or who have a hard time walking this will not be enjoyable. More info through the trail about endemic flora and fauna would have been nice, especially considering people working there should be experts and the whole point of developing the georeserve. It’s a great way experience nature with friends or colleagues!

The management and organisation is 100%. The staff are friendly but lay down the ground rules very clearly. No littering, no smoking, and at some parts of the guided walk no talking!! What a fabulous place - makes you appreciate nature in a most tangible way. We did a 4 hour walk, with a guide who was most knowledgeable about the flora and fauna. Best reserve I’ve been to in the Philippines.

Masungi does offer "shared trails" but you'd have to contact them for availability. Or you can book through Tanlines Philippines for a Masungi visit that includes a ride going there and back every Friday.

I am not quite sure but I think that if ever you bring along kids, you can't participate in the rope activities since these are kinda dangerous with kids around. They have a different pathway for those who can't complete the activities so I guess you could tag along the kids and walk through the walkway / pathway. But I strongly suggest to not bring little kids in Masungi for safety purposes.
