So happy we chose Outer Island Expeditions for our whale watching trip!

There are three main whale watching outfitters on Orcas Island, all considered to be good. However, by a stroke of luck, OIE was the first to return our phone message and we got... read more

Left from Bellingham/Lummi Island, then spent the first hour of the tour picking up more clients at Orcas. Feel like the crew took the easy way out taking us on a long boat ride to Salmon Bank, south of San Juan Island. No narration about our route or the islands we passed along the way. Once there, we spent one... More

There are three main whale watching outfitters on Orcas Island, all considered to be good. However, by a stroke of luck, OIE was the first to return our phone message and we got on board the same day. OIE has the fastest boats on the sound which meant we could get to where the whales were known to be in... More

they guarantee whales and have the fastest boat. I think the boat was fast and the ride was good, the captain and crew seemed knowledgeable. Make sure to get a spot outside or on the upper deck, near the captain, you'll get the best experience. I wished we had traveled around a bit more, we sort of kept watching the... More

This company offers the best and most informative whale watching experience I have ever had! I have been on whale watching boats before, but this company is fantastic. I have been on several of their boats this summer and both were very enjoyable. One picked us up at tge Lopez Islander resort dock on Lopez. The other was taken from... More

Saw many Orcas, Sea Lions, and Harbor Seals on our trip! Had a great time with the crew, on their 700HP open boat. Anna (the local ecologist) was a wealth of knowledge onboard, answered all our Orca/whale/marine questions. Capt Brandon did a great job getting us the best vantage point for viewing and picture taking. He also took us to... More

First of all, organizing dozens of people, children, those with handicaps and special requests was not a problem for the staff. Our captain was Skye Weaver, our Dream Weaver, as he guaranteed whale sightings. We were fortunate to see a local pod of Orcas. To top it off into our lucky day, a humpback was in our path, which breached... More

What a great trip! We were on a small and fast boat and motored out to near Victoria, BC to make find a pod of orcas. I'm not sure we would have seen whales that day if we had been with a different company on a slower boat. I was impressed and appreciative of how hard the captain (Skye) worked... More

We did a 3 hour kayak tour with a knowledgable and very friendly guide, Joy. All equipment was provided along with helpful instruction as needed. Our tour took us to a lovely beach only accessible by water. We saw harbor seals, cormorants, herons and an eagle's nest along the way. Our September weather was perfect. This tour was the highlight... More

Most spectacular!!! Not only was the crew super nice & informative, they made every effort to get us to places where whales were & WOW, what a sight!! We ended up seeing two different species, the humpback & the orca. And, with the humpback, we were extremely lucky to see it breach not just once, but twice!!! There were so... More

The Captain and guide were so experienced and knowledgeable and we saw three different pods of Orcas. I had always wanted to do this and now I can check this off my bucket list but it will by no means be my last trip. I've always had a fascination with Orcas but seeing them in their natural habitat was amazing!!... More
