I think that Lake Whatcom is one of the most beautiful lakes in the United States that is accessible and at the same time that can feel secluded. I live in Michigan so I know my share of fresh water lakes! There is a maintained...More

We lived in sudden valley for most of a year ... really enjoyed the drive by lake whatcom. So worth the time to take a leisurely drive by the shoreline. Watch out for the Bambi’s ... especially early morning and dusk to night.

Drive over Alabama Hill to the Silver Beach area. Lake Whatcom Blvd does not circle Lake Whatcom. As you drive toward the lake be sure to look at the view. Turn left and follow Lake Whatcom Blvd along the lake to the dead end. Stop...More

This is a wonderful hike through a temperate rainforest which culminates in a beautiful view. The trail rises through a series of switchbacks, road crossings and short bridges. It's a safe solo hike, but also great for families and small groups.

Parking is limited in a few sites but there is plenty of room on the lake to enjoy. Don't miss the nice small Whatcom Falls park on the west side with longer adjacent hiking trails to explore the area.

Love a quiet walk along the North Shore of Lake Whatcom - good for biking, walking, or running - all ages accommodated and accessibility route available.

The lake is large and there are points along the road where you can view some of it as you drive, but there is really no easy place to stop and relax along the entire west side. Perhaps the eastern shore has some places. Much...More

I live on Lake Whatcom. Spring or Summer is the best time for boating activities, although we have seen kayakers and canoeing almost year round. Weather is warmest in Mid June thru Mid September. Four stroke boat motors are not allowed. All boats must be...More
