Nice trails and forest in the middle of the city. Good place for some fresh air and nature when you don't want to be near the windy beach.

My WWU daughter took her old parents up this trail on a warm summer day in August. It was lush green with many switchbacks to make the hike bearable. The viewpoint was a nice place to enjoy the sweeping view of the bay. Well worth...More

Short hike up, depending on which way you go. Trails all over the little mountain/hill. All sorts of cool things to discover- it seems like I find something new each time!! And then when you get to the top, there is an old 4-story watchtower...More

A nice hike close to town. Very easy nature walks with good views. Cool historical area as there is a tunnel that cars were able to drive though in the twenties and thirties. Lots of parking at top of hill. Cool wooden structure to walk...More

Walk up the hill from WWU to this wonderful arboretum. Feel close to nature without going a long way to find it.

This is a nice urban forest in the middle of Bellingham. I'm not sure I'd go out of my way specifically to go here, but if you are walking around town it is a nice diversion. Walking up from campus or elsewhere is totally doable...More

There are plenty of hiking trails throughout this wooded park and it is easy to loose your sense of direction. Keep going uphill though, and you will eventually reach the tower which offers some very nice viewing of Mt. Baker, the Two Sisters, and Bellingham...More

Great for bird watching (woodpeckers galore.) Tends to be super muddy when it rains though as most paths are dirt trails. Trails split through wooded areas and generally a great way to take in a Pacific Northwest rainforest. Eerie at night time and very quiet.

The name describes it well... an arboretum on a hill. With trails that circle the hill, a lookout with a great view, and easy access from roads at the base and to the top (or very close to the top), there are plenty of choices....More

Yes we drove to the top at the end of the drive. We had tried parking on the East side but there were no parking signs within the residential area. Maybe try around the university as there may be paid parking. Do try again... More
