Historic Jamestowne is the original site of the first permanent English settlement in America. Ongoing archaeology at the site of James Fort has changed our understanding of the struggles and triumphs of early 1600s life in Virginia. Living history programs and an archaeology museum tell the story of this dramatic rediscovery. The site is jointly administered by the National Park Service and Preservation Virginia.

We were very pleased to have visited Jamestown. The museum was great and be sure to watch the movies. Go outside to visit the outbuildings and ships.

My wife and i took a trip to Jamestown both the historical site and the museum. BOTH were wonderful. We took an archaeological tour that was absolutely incredible! So much to see & learn. Wish we had been able to spend more time there.

Historic Jamestown and Jamestown Settlement was my favorite part of my vacation. Beyond what I was expecting. Great place for both younger kids, Teenagers, and adults. My middle child loved it as she was studying Jamestown a month ago in school.

Visit often - historical finds are being discovered monthly. I learned so much more about the first permanent English settlers than when I visited in the past - because this is an active archeological site. MUST SEE

Visited this area as part of our long weekend. Was great to see the location and learn some of the history. Extra treat was being there for events on the marketplace for the season!!

Attended the archaeology tour with Mark Sammons. He was exceptional with making the story of Jamestown come alive. The time flew by and we wanted more.

I recently moved to Williamsburg, VA, and finally had a free weekend after unpacking. Some friends were in town over Thanksgiving weekend and really wanted to go visit someplace and had heard good things about the actual Jamestown site, as opposed to the recreated "Jamestown...More

The Jamestown museum was the highlight of our trip. The museum is well worth the entrance fee. It starts with a short introductory film which was very well done. In addition to the historical displays, walking the grounds was a delight. From the pathways to...More

We walked through the Jamestowne Settlement first and saw the Powatan village, food being prepared and a canoe being carved. The English settlement was equally as informative. Being Thanksgiving, there were food presentations there as well as musket firings. We also toured two of the...More

No charge for parking. No charge to go the Glass blowing demonstration. There is a small charge for Historic Jamestown area at the end of the road but it is well worth the charge, especially if you follow along with a... More

Yep...parking is free at both the NHPark Jamestowne and the center that is before it. Remember, if you want the "town" part, you have to drive about a mile behind the first Jamestown Center you see!

I did the historic triangle but don't think you could complete Gettysburg and Jamestowne due to distance. Jamestown historic site takes a couple hours then the archeological site at least two.hours
