Really liked walking under the tanks - way easier than getting a tank and training and SCUBA diving! The Aquarium hosted a dinner after ours for our group and we got the 'cooks tour' of the back rooms with the impressive amount of technology it takes to sustain the displays as well as the quarantined animals and the 'hospital' which... We are a French family who enjoyed the Aquarium visit this afternoon. The visit is quite pleasant, not bad but not extraordinary. We are used to very big aquariums in France so we were a little bit disappointed. However, the volunteers are very friendly and willing to hep and inform us about sea animals species. Thank you for welcoming us... More

This was such a great place in the winter not crowded and I swear I must have sat forever petting the stingrays. The staff was super friendly and took time explaining all the creatures and stories. We especially loved the gentleman describing the second exhibit he told us all about the endangered turtles. Which is my fiancé's favorite critter!

We rushed through the first time so maybe by the fourth time we will get the job completed. It seems that even the stuff we saw before is still with seeing again.

We ended up here in a spur of the moment thing to do. It was a very child friendly place to visit. There were quite a few hands on things to explore and that was wonderful as my children are 3 and 7, and curious. The price was great based on past aquariums we had been to around the country... I love to go to aquariums when we travel. The Virginia Aquarium was fun and educational. It's a good place for children. We also took the boat trip and saw a humpback whale which was very cool.

Considering that I volunteered here back in the late 90's I thought it would have changed. I had heard they 'upgraded' it dramatically. Sort of. I literally could have closed my eyes and walked the entire museum blind as so little has changed. Yes they have the walk through tunnel and the komodo dragons, but SO many of the exhibits... More

I went to the Virginia Aquarium on a whim after I finished a long day of work. The place was relaxing if anything else. I started at the smaller building and watched the otters for awhile, and I also checked out the snakes. I walked through the nature areas (about a 1 mile) to the main building. The main building...
