The museum is not very big, but filled with lots of stuff - from World War I & II to Civil Wars, from sewing machines to trains, from quilt to uniforms, to name a few. There are books, pictures, flyers, and the actual antiques, it went on and on. There is also a very impressive model train, which from the... More

Where do I start? This place is crammed full of all sorts of Americana that you just don't see anymore, let alone in one place. Items from the Civil War, WWI & WWII, old phone switchboards, beds, dressers, bells from the courthouse; you name it, it's squirreled away here somewhere. There is even an old poster of Dan Patch; think... More

Lots of neat things on display. The train set in the train car is a must see. Be advised that there is no air conditioning -- so try to pick a temperate day.

The smell of oiled metal, the steam, the huge machines; that tall takes me back to my childhood when trains like this were common. Walk among a nice collection of very well kept locomotives and then cross the road and go for a trip in one of these...Very nice experience; especially my grandson liked it very much. We travelled in... More

We stopped in to the museum on a quiet Friday afternoon and had the place to ourselves. Be sure to start with the video! Our kids absolutely loved the Caboose outside and the model railway. Stop by on a Saturday to see it in action.

Particularly enjoyed climbing onto the red caboose. Very charming place, lovingly put together exhibition. Funny to see all the signs which encourage you to smile as you are being filmed on security camera!

If you love trains, you'll love the hand-created train exhibit in an actual train car behind the museum. So many details! Tons of stuff for every interest inside the museum - Native American artifacts, furniture, handcrafts, newspapers, photos, train memorabilia -- basically, all aspects of life in a rural VA town. No charge.

Quaint, full of local history and lots of railroad and Civil War artifacts. It has an AMAZING working model railroad display that fills a full size railroad car.

Strasburg, Virginia, is a great place to start your trip down the Valley Pike while touring the historic and beautiful Shenandoah Valley. To obtain a thorough background of the region, stop at the Strasburg Museum at 440 East King Street. The museum, which opened in 1970, is housed in an old Southern Railway depot. It contains exhibits dating to the... More
