We learned a lot on our enthusiastically guided tour (thank you, Linda) about Woodrow Wilson's birthplace and the life and culture of the area in the mid to late 1800's. History really does come alive when you can stand by the kitchen fireplace, just by the cast iron "range", walk the hallways, visit the parlour, dining, cook's room and the... More

We toured the Woodrow Wilson birthplace and childhood home. There is very little in the home that is original furniture; almost everything is "of the period." The tour was ok if you have the time. The Wilson museum directly next door was somewhat more interesting.

The Woodrow Wilson Birthplace is part of a complex which includes the home in which Thomas Woodrow Wilson was born, an adjacent historic home with a gift shop and video presentations, a small museum, and an extensive research library (also on line). The WWBPL is privately funded (Wilson predated the Presidential Libraries Act that funds the lavish libraries of later... More

The tour was informative and showed the "upstairs and downstairs". The guide was knowledgeable. The group on the tour was a bit too large - about 15. we filled each room in the tour, so it was difficult to see what was there. We were encouraged to ask questions, but with the large group it was hard to see things... More

The history of WWI and Woodrow Wilson is well presented, but this is just his birthplace. His wife Edith chose the location for his museum; his ties here are minimal.

Though Wilson only lived here 1.5 years, he was born in this home when his father was a minister in Staunton. The tours are well-curated with many fun facts about the Wilson family and history in general. A bit of a hike up to the home from the parking lot so be prepared for stairs. Learning more about the family... More

First your ticket price includes a roughly 15 minute informative video about Woodrow Wilson, the birthplace and his life. Ahead of time you may listen for the 2 fallacies found on the video for a chance at a " $100,00.00 ". Then you go next door to begin the tour of the 2 story birthplace, room by room. Our guide... It was a nice old house, but the tour was pretty average and didn't tell us a lot about Wilson. That could be because he spent only the first few months of his life in Staunton.

We had several places we wanted to visit but it was raining hard. This was mostly inside so chose it. It was well worth the visit. Our guides were not only interesting but gave us so much insight into the life of Thomas Woodrow Wilson. I would enjoy going back again as too much to absorb in one visit.

The docent took our group on a tour of the first two levels of the house. She was very well informed and allowed time for questions. If you go the library you should go to see the house.
