My husband, daughter and I visited this lovely church when we visited Williamsburg. The tour that John gave, telling the long history of this historic church was really interesting and well worth it.

My wife and I, retired academics, agree that today's visit to St. Luke's involved the best historic tour we've experienced. Besides being knowledgeable about church, building, and regional history our guide was cordial and quick with clear answers to questions. Most impressive was John's balanced discussion of the church's dating controversy. The restored building and grounds themselves are lovely.

Recently stopped by the Historic St. Luke's Church for a tour on Thanksgiving eve. Our tour guide, Leslie D. was first class. She gave us a very informative tour of the church and we were not rushed when asking questions and taking pictures of the church. Our tour guide knew quite about the church and thoroughly enjoyed telling us about... More

Took a lovely drive to Smithfield to visit the Historic St. Luke's Church. The church is indeed unique in many ways, and John, our fantastic tour guide, really brought it and its history, architecture and furnishings to life. While your in town, stop at The Wharf Brewing Company for lunch. You will not be disappointed. We will definitely come back!

Wonderfully preserved church from the 1600's. Seeing what it was like to worship and live in this time period was humbling. Well preserved. Our tour guide was very well versed in the history of the church and of the graveyard surrounding it.

Great find! The Old Brick Church was awe inspiring and a symbol of our religious freedoms. John was a great tour guide, knowledgeable and entertaining enough to keep my young teens engaged as well. Well worth the stop.

We were not able to go on one of the tours as it was Sunday AM and they don't start until 1:00, but we walked the grounds and all around the church. The historic graveyard is just full of history and it was neat to read headstones and see all of the families buried together. The historic church itself is... More

A trip to Saint Luke Church in Isle of Wight County is a step back into time. The church itself is charming, with its two foot thick brick walls, ancient pedal organ, and early 17th century architecture that fits with its early furnishings and layout. Tour guide John Erickson brings it to life, noting the layout of the pulpit, the... More

we discovered this hidden gem by accident, referred by a clerk at an RV campground, then directed by another clerk at the visitor center in Smithfield VA. Originally we were interested in the Surry Scotland Ferry but our prize was to find one of the oldest standing churches in America, beautifully restored and maintained, and incredibly well represented by its...
