Hat's off to the staff at James River Reeling and Rafting. Each went above and beyond to make our family kayak and canoe trip on the James very enjoyable. After checking in we were provided basic safety instruction and a river map to help us navigate our 12.5 mile trip down the James. My wife and I were in the... More

We had planned on tubing down the James River, but the weather did not cooperate. It was overcast, misting and about 20 degrees cooler than we expected. The folks at James River Reeling and Rafting outfitted us with canoes instead of tubes and we had a great time floating down the James. They have designated safe parking, shuttle up river... More

We've gone for the last several years and love it!!! They drive you on the bus and you float back to your car! What an awesome day! Remember to bring soap, shampoo and hair brush if you want to shower off after. Just a relaxing day trip that we love! We'll be back next year!

A very friendly staff make renting a kayak for a run down the James easy and lots of fun. You park, sign in, get in a van, are driven upriver, handed an oar and a life vest, and put in the water. You receive simple directions and good advice and a good time is had by all.You can stop and... More

Had a blast with fiends tubing down the James Rivet. The Staff at James River Reeling and Rafting were very hospitable, friendly and very helpful especially Meaty who was a great help in securing our tube together and coolers. A great way to get away from the hustle and bustle and enjoy quality time with friends and family.

We did the 12.5 mile kayak paddle and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It was our first time so it was more R&D than anything. Now that we've done it we know what to bring to enhance our experience. Will definitely be going back. River was very high. Plenty of current but the Rapids are very mild with the high water. Finished... More

Wife and I and her son and his girlfriend recently went to Scottsville on a Sunday for the 7 mile Warren to Scottsville trip. Wife and I took a canoe and the kids each had kayaks. Great float down the river with various stops along the way. Very slow float with a couple of riffles thrown in. Great starter journey.

My family went tubing on the James for the first time. It was a weekend day in August, but it was not too crowded. The staff was wonderful. The brochure says that tubing the 4 mile journey takes 2-4 hours. Our group took 3.5 hours to make the trip. We stopped a a couple of big rocks for snacks for... More

There were 5 of us floating down and fishing for the morning trip. It was a bit rainy for the first part but still very enjoyable. The river was rather high and was running fast so we tried to slow ourselves down and enjoy the relaxing views and ride while fishing. The sun came out and it was even better.... More
