Although the website features lots of trails, fishing, and amenities, I did not experience any of them. At the time of our visit, some of the trails were closed due to flooding. This intensified the mosquito problem. The one trail we went down was questionably...More

Record rainfall this year has definitely exacerbated the mosquitoes and was the cause for the trail closures. This is not a mountainous part of Virginia so I am not sure what the expectation for mountain views were.

This park is nice for day use. Lots of open space, making it great for astronomy. The gift shop was bigger than most state parks and had everything from keychains to telescopes. Items were a bit overpriced though. Staff were great.

This Park is a great hiking destination in winter and likely a good location for boating, swimming and camping in warmer weather. Trails and cabins are well-maintained, the setting on two rivers and a reservoir is spectacular and most areas are very dog-friendly (on leash)....More

One of the cleanest, most beautiful parks I've been too. The camp host and employees are awesome. We saw countless stars and deer. Swam in the pool and ate at the river. Even the teens were happy !
