able to see all of Roanoke and beyond from here, recommend hiking instead of driving, the trails are moderate in intensity, they are clearly market, so many beautiful trees on the way up, get a picture with the iconic star

The kids played at a fun playground for ages 5 - 12 near the Discovery Center. We then hiked one of the many trails in the area. The Discovery Center is a small nature museum for kids & is well done. Afterward, we drove up...More

A pretty drive (that only took a few minutes from downtown) on the way up to a beautiful view. Great place for pictures and you can’t beat the price!

Really nice for a short walk and a fantastic view of the city and surrounding area. We were also somewhat fascinated by all the butterflies in the flowers...hundreds.

We love driving up Mill Mountain and going for a good afternoon walk. Be careful of the huge black snake that hangs out under the star right on the brick wall. He also has been seen on lookouts.

We visited late summer during daylight saving so the lighting did not stand out. The views from the hill are extensive so it is worth the drive up just for this

We went around 7 in the evening by the time we got there it was dusk dark and the star looked great. The parking area is right next to the platform to view the star so the walk is very brief to and from the star.
