Tried to go on a Sunday. This place is under renovation so don't waste your time. There is nothing to do in Portsmouth and we walked all over town. Everything was closed except for a few restaurants. Wasted half a day and taking the ferry out of here ASAP!

I use to walk here from Nana's house way back on Leckie St. My cousins and I could have given tours. They never charged to get in so we were here a lot. Then we'd walk (barefoot) to get a fountain coke. What a wealth of Naval history is packed into this small building. 👍👍

Be prepared to spend a full day here! We parked in the multi storey carpark, just a short walk from the Museum. We had to queue for about 30 mins to pay to get into the museum grounds but the weather was fine so no problem. The HMS Victory is a must, an incredble ship with so much history. We... More

We visited the Shipyard museum. This was awesome if you have a child that loves ships or interested in WWII artifacts. We also took a 2-hour boat tour showing us the harbor and it was narrated the entire boat trip.

This was a very informative museum about naval vessels. We chose the free tour. It was plenty long and informative. There is the tour of the USS Wisconsin which is a pay tour, there were plenty of folks taking that tour. It's well worth the stop.

Excellent displays highlighting key events in American history that were shaped by the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. All periods, from Revolutionary, thru Civil War and Modern have exhibits showing the importance of this site. Highly recommended for history, military and naval buffs.

What a dynamic museum that tells the compelling stories of the historic shipyard and Portsmouth. Great exhibits and informative programs. I highly recommend.
